Not an AIBU - just looking for quick answers! Wink

I submitted a claim for DLA for my child in a February but I have not had a letter confirming the outcome yet.

I've just found a payment for £358.20 from DLA in my account made today.

The weekly rates for children are:

Lowest £23.70
Middle £60.00
Higher £89.60

£89.60 x 4 weeks = £358.40

So that means if he has been awarded the higher rate it's 20p short. Not that I'm at all bothered by 20p, I'm just trying to work out whether he has got the higher rate, or the lowest/middle rate with a back payment? And the amount is a coincidence?!

Anyone shed any light?

Thanks!

If your DS needs more care than a typical child of his age and you have reports from his school/Drs, etc there’s no reason why they won’t grant it again. Smile

My sons award was submitted in March. He gets high rate care, no mobility. He's 8. I rang yesterday as it has been 40 days and I hadn't heard anything, and his care has gone from high to low. I'm devastated and was crying to the poor lady on the phone. I literally don't know how were going to cope. Apparently his speech and language is not considered to be different from other children his age (one of many reasons they've lowered his rate) despite the report from SALT about an assessment they did at school that showed he's in the 2nd percentile for comprehension Sad frequently wakes/ won't sleep at all and still function, massive meltdowns, under dietician, CAMHS and autism outreach Sad I've never had to appeal before

That's terrible! So sorry to hear that, what did the lady say on the phone? Definitely appeal, it makes no sense from what you've said!

She was really lovely and said she felt awful as I was so upset. She said wait til I get the paperwork through (7-10 days), then call them and ask for a mandatory review. Then I have to tell them on the phone exactly why I think the decision is wrong and they will type what I say. It would be so much easier i could write it as a letter without my emotions getting the better of me. Then resend all of his hospital letters, assesments, paeds stuff again. My DH had to give up work to care for him and now he can't even claim carers allowance Sad

I can't believe they've done that op, when you applied for the renewal did you fill it in the same as you did when you originally did it? Hopefully they will approve it after the mandatory reconsideration, if things are the same or worse than last time then it's totally wrong. I wonder how often this happens at the renewal.
MinnieJackson · 06/05/2021 12:58

Yes it was all the same questions, and I always photocopy my last applications and all drs letters so I have easy reference to anything I might forget, or if anything's changed. If anything there was more evidence than ever this time @TheVolturi

Hi I’m new here. I don’t know if I’m commenting on a thread - or if I’m creating my own post ?
I’m sorry if I’m writing on somebody else’s thread. I wondered if anyone could help me please? My son has been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Positive poly Arthritis.
He is on steroids and Methotrexate injections- has a teacher Script for him at school and needs help with eating / drinking /washing / dressing and mobility.
Iv applied for DLA and still waiting to hear back- Iv sent in a lot of supporting evidence.
However , I hear a lot of children havnt been awarded anything for this illness.
Is there anyone out there who’s claim has been successful?
Also, how long are claims taking now?
It’s been since 21st may - they received it 2 weeks later and I’m still waiting to hear something.
I’m getting really anxious as all his appointments are in a city almost 2 hours away. I can’t work due now due to having to drop all my clients to care for him. I’m worried about how I’m going to afford to get him to all these appointments.

Hi

I’m wondering if anyone has been sent the review form for mobility allowance when their lo turns 3

DD has had dla since she was 6months and is now eligible for the mobility component, they said they will be sending a form - is it different to the original application form as they said I just tick care is still the same. If it is different is it online as I can’t find it.

Thank you. Xx
