Am currently sat seething on hold to Yorkshire Wildlife Park. My parents bought us annual passes for Christmas. I've just gone online to book to see if there is anything available this weekend. Not surprisingly there isn't much left. I don't know why I thought to look on the paid tickets section. Well fuck me I can go on Sunday morning at 9am if I'm willing to pay £42. How can they possibly limit annual pass holders?

AIBU or is this totally nuts!! We've not managed to actually use them yet! No email offering a part refund or to extend the expiry date of the annual passes.

Please remember when you call up to howl at these attractions that there are real people on the other end of the phone. People who weren't sure if their job would still be there, people who have been furloughed for over a year, people trying to ensure their attraction/ business survives.

These places need money, your annual pass and food purchases will give minimal income.

I say this as a ZSL member, we could only book one visit initially between 12th of April and the 16th of May, I was happy with that, there are a lot of members and lots after last lockdown booked multiple visits and didn't show up. Tickets others could have had and potentially paid for.

For context, it costs £15 a meal to feed the giraffes at Whipsnade - they need income.

ZSL have opened up bookings for members a bit more now, but its mainly weekdays.

I also paid for membership/adoptions for a zoo near a holiday destination we were supposed to go to last year, as a way to support and we are supposed to be going this May, this holiday has now been cancelled so no benefit at all from that but I accept that fact.
