Worried about few days late period

What are the reasons for a missed period, other than pregnancy?

I’m definitely not pregnant as me and my DP haven’t had sex for around a month and a half.

I’ve been feeling like it’s due for days now, my boobs are super sore and tender, I’m getting cramping, especially in the ovary area and my PMDD is horrendous.

The only thing that’s changed this month is I’ve been eating less carbs and possibly lost a little weight. I’ve also switched from white bread to wholemeal (when I do eat bread).

I keep thinking it’s started, go to look and there’s nothing. I’m always like clockwork, so even though I’m only a few days late, it’s got me wound up.

Stress can do it.

Early menopause

Astra Zeneca vaccine ( see thread covid topic)

I've been up to a week late before now and I'm also usually like clockwork. If there's no way you could be pregnant it's possibly just late which can happen. I'd wait a few more days and you'll probably find it will appear.

Unanananana · 12/04/2021 21:32

Stress would be my first thought. Though I would do a pregnancy test just to be sure as what you are describing was early pregnancy signs for me. Did you use contraception when you had sex? (Proper contraception I mean not withdrawal 'method')

NeverDropYourMoonCup · 12/04/2021 21:33

Being pregnant but mistaking implantation bleeding for a period the previous month.

BrumBoo · 12/04/2021 21:42

I was always like clockwork until I wasn't one month. Just randomly skipped one, though didn't skip the symptoms. Came back the following month like nothing was different, apart from the hole in my bank account from buying tests.

Since actually having children they've definitely gone off kilter though. Sometimes 2 weeks apart, sometimes 6, though generally a normal cycle. Are you on or ever been on any hormonal contraception?

Also, do a test just to put that aside, you can get a pack for a quid in Poundland.

I’m a week late - have put it down to the COVID vaccine I had two weeks ago.

ScottishStottie · 12/04/2021 21:48

I was a week late, suspect it was due to vaccine. Take a test to rule it out

Stringoftulips · 12/04/2021 21:54

Very, very unlikely I’m pregnant. We’ve hardly had sex for months as we’re not getting on and when we do (very rarely) we use a condom.
I don’t feel like I did when I was pregnant with my son, I sort of ‘knew’ then...but now it just feels like my period is imminent but won’t come.
Wasn’t implantation bleeding the month before, as it was my usual flow - medium heavy and followed the usual pattern.

I haven’t had the vaccine yet either

I’ve had this. Period decided to be late this month and now I have to rebook my smear. I think it’s a combination of nerves about the smear, starting intermittent fasting and deciding to move house!

CeibaTree · 12/04/2021 22:15

How old are you OP? Perimenopause can cause irregular periods, in fact it's one of the first signs.

Stringoftulips · 12/04/2021 22:38

@CeibaTree I’m 31, 32 in June. So I think it’s a bit early? Although I guess it could be.

It sometimes just happens and you never know the reason . Just one of those things . I remember the panic it could induce though!
