Embarrassment and long Anxiety

I am a classic over thinker and it’s been an issue for years but I have managed. However I have been stressing about an incident that happened over two years ago, I cannot seem to let go of worry in the past. Is this normal? Does anyone else have issues letting go of anxiety from years ago

What happened? I expect that it isn't anywhere near as bad as you think, and that it has been long forgotten by others in the situation. Remember you can always remember your most embarrassing incident, but you cant remember someone else's. Try not to overthink it. If it's been 2 years then things have moved on, you have survived and learnt from it.

I don’t think you are on your own, if I think hard enough I can still cringe at stuff that happened 20 years ago Confused.
I try to stop myself from dwelling on stuff, and telling myself no one cares anymore.

I often cringe about things that happened years ago. I'm so relieved social media wasnt a thing when I was younger.
But most people won't remember or think about the things that embarrassed you 2 years ago. I think you just need to find ways to distract yourself from bad memories.
