There is a small business on Instagram, selling something ‘unique’. Definitely the first to sell this exact style of item. But, they are almost impossible to get hold of. Re stocked every couple of weeks, but sold out within (literally) a minute or two of going live, so demand is quite obviously way above supply.

So many similar businesses now selling the exact same thing, but have obviously ‘copied’ the idea. However, more stock and availability.

I hate big retailers knocking off small businesses’ designs, so it feels a bit wrong, BUT obviously this isn’t that.

So, is it reasonable to buy an item from a copycat business?

YABU: copycat businesses are really bad, it’s not fair, don’t do it.

YANBU: there are similar businesses/designs everywhere, if you want one, just buy one.

Is this by any chance those baby cardigans with the name in loopy embroidery on the back? I only ask because I’ve had the exact same issue trying to get my paws on one!

I think it’s more ethically sound to get an original really - maybe try contacting the seller to see if they can hold one back for you? I know some businesses will do that for those who ask.
