Shameless I know but I can't find the thread and I've really been wondering what the update is. Can anyone link me please?

It was a troll.

takingmytimeonmyride · 10/04/2021 13:21

I posted on that and didn't even see a deletion message, it just disappeared. Maybe it eloped?

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 10/04/2021 13:23

@MNHQ

It would be really helpful if the thread title stayed put when a thread is deleted so that you know which one it was 🍹

Foolintherain · 10/04/2021 13:25

It was the most obvious troll in the whole of trollsville.

bruffin · 10/04/2021 13:33

Message from MNHQ: Thanks for the reports. This thread was started by a returning troll so we've taken it down now.

This was the message, its on my watch list

x2boys · 10/04/2021 13:42

It was fairly obviously a load of bollocks .

Ilovemaisie · 10/04/2021 13:43

I was wondering about this. I could tell it was a load of baloney but it was amusing Grin

CloudFormations · 10/04/2021 13:57

They were an obvious troll and PBP.

I would like to remind everyone that there is a well-known mumsnet troll who posts about 16yo girls misbehaving. It’s a gross perversion, but too many posters fall over themselves to share stories of their own teens’ misdemeanours without stopping to consider they’re fuelling some pervert’s wank bank.

Is it the same ones who is now asking how to punish their 16yo DD for lying? A couple of people have flagged it up on that thread. How do you spot it? I'm rubbish at recognising trolls, I thought the eloping one was legit.
Lockheart · 10/04/2021 14:07

It was such an obvious troll.

Don't fall for them and don't get invested in threads.

CloudFormations · 10/04/2021 14:14

@babbaloushka not sure - that one seemed genuine to me at first but I haven’t checked back recently. Could very easily have gone the other way.

Usually they start sounding fairly normal and then get weird. Any time they ask for others to share experiences it’s a mega red flag.

Charliecatpaws · 10/04/2021 14:15

There was a thread earlier this week whose OP as a full time student and her husband wanted to se her student finance to pay his debts and child maintenance - what happened to that ? Was it deleted?

crazymicrowave123 · 10/04/2021 14:16

This is the 5th post I have actively following that has been deleted due to the OP being a troll. People must be really bored during this lockdown...

crazymicrowave123 · 10/04/2021 14:16

actively been following**

Mindymomo · 10/04/2021 14:21

What do people get out of doing this, I do wonder, too weird for myself to understand.

Pebbledashery · 10/04/2021 14:22

What is with these bloody trolls.. I get so emotionally invested in these threads!

sbhydrogen · 10/04/2021 14:28

I love an occasional troll thread, they're so interesting 🤣

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 10/04/2021 14:30

Wasn't it a blatant rip off the storyline in classic Corrine which is showing at the moment, when Leanne battersby and Nick Tilsly?

Boomchicka · 10/04/2021 14:31

This is why trolls love mumsnet, there's a never ending pool of posters that believe absolutely everything they read. None of it was plausible and most of it was impossible given the covid restrictions.

Cottagepieandpeas · 10/04/2021 14:34

How can (some of) you tell it’s a troll?
I read the elopement one and believed it (partly because when she was 16 my daughter left a web search about getting married at 16 open on the shared PC - so it brought back memories! She didn’t get married-then).

Cottagepieandpeas · 10/04/2021 14:35

@Boomchicka yes I must admit I did wonder about Covid restrictions.

But I also think I am quite gullible!

GrimDamnFanjo · 10/04/2021 14:36

From the get go several posters poked holes in the story...

I agree, it’s like sex threads in Char or AIBU where it’s obvious wank fodder but women fall over themselves to overshare.

Same with period threads “hi I’m a new poster but I’d like to talk periods”.

I don’t think you can elope to Gretna to Marry with no licence anyway now.

littlepattilou · 10/04/2021 15:23

@babbaloushka

That one has gone 'poooof' too. And that was also a PBP.

hashbrownsandwich · 10/04/2021 19:15

Ah I suspected as much! I read it really early in the morning when I couldn't sleep and I was questioning whether i had remembered it or whether I was actually dreaming?
Thanks for the heads up all!
