... to use out of date RM pastry?

It's shortcrust & dated 'use by 1 04 21'. I'm rubbish at making pastry. Would I be OK using it today?

YANBU = use it
YABU = put it in the bin

Use it. It's only a few days over.

At only eight days past the used by, I probably would. The problem with pastry is that it has fat in it, which over time goes rancid. But I wouldn't expect yours to be inedible. Possibly not as good as a month ago, but edible.

Smell it. If it smells fine, use it Easter Grin

I'll risk it, then. If you never hear from me again, it was nice knowing you.

Has it been in the fridge this whole time? Have a look and smell it. If it smells ok I'd use it. Pastry generally has very few ingredients that will harm you if out of date.
