Anecdotally, if your cravings were the same with subsequent pregnancies were the babies the same sex?

My mum is convinced I’m having another girl as I’m having all the same cravings as I did with my daughter.
However, I don’t see much scientific basis for this!

So thought I’d get a small poll.

Yabu for no
Yanbu for yes

Oh I'm going to watch with interest Smile

My first pregnancy I had no sickness or nausea and had a girl. This time I really struggled for the first 8/9 weeks, curious if it'll be a boy this time (not bothered either way.)

Macncheeseballs · 07/04/2021 11:20

No, different cravings, same aex

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 07/04/2021 11:23

Completely different symptoms, same sex.

My first pregnancy (which I lost) was again completely different.

Vallmo47 · 07/04/2021 11:24

Opposite genders, very similar pregnancies.

SirSamuelVimes · 07/04/2021 11:31

Same sex both times, totally opposite pregnancies in every single way.

Warrickdaviesasplates · 07/04/2021 11:35

No, I've craved sugar in all my pregnancy's and have both girls and boys.

MidSummersNightmare · 07/04/2021 11:36

2 girls, bad morning sickness with both but worse the second time. Once sickness had gone I had massive fruit cravings with the first one and certain Chinese takeaway dishes with the second.

ShutUpAlex · 07/04/2021 11:42

@MidSummersNightmare haha with my first I craved Chinese chicken curry even though I had never had it before!

same sex all 3 times - totally different cravings (coffee and peanuts/watermelon and ice/ fruit juice and cheese pizza)

Dilbertian · 07/04/2021 12:02

Boys and girls here. My cravings were the same with each pregnancy, but they were stronger each time.

The way I felt OTOH, the nausea, for example, and what I refused to eat, were different between the girls and the boys.

Twizbe · 07/04/2021 12:05

I craved fizzy orange and orange squash with both babies (I hate orange squash normally) one boy and one girl.

What was different was the sickness and how I carried.

Boy - felt sick but wasn't ever sick. I carried very wide and my rib cage expanded loads

Girl - felt sick a lot and was sick a few times. I carried all in front. I didn't look pregnant from the back at all

RaspberryBubblegum · 07/04/2021 12:06

Same cravings but different sex! I could only ever eat sugary things. I'm currently pregnant with 3rd and once again I'm trying to stop myself from only eating cereal and ice cream all day 🙈

YenneferOfBattenberg · 07/04/2021 12:10

My cravings were for junk food with both pregnancies - basically all I wanted to eat was McDonalds. I had a boy and a girl.

I had bad sickness and nausea with both - with my son this stopped at 20 weeks, but with my daughter I was still throwing up in the third trimester.

FluffyBlueJumper · 07/04/2021 12:14

I craved tomato and feta salad for DC1 and 2. I had a boy and a girl.
For my 3rd pregnancy I craved tinned peaches and pork pie. It was a girl.
No cravings for DC4 (girl).

ShutUpAlex · 07/04/2021 12:18

Pork pies are the only thing I can eat this time round without feeling sick. I do hope it’s another girl but have a few more weeks to wait and see!

Salt and vinegar cravings with both boy and girl.

Passthewinebottle · 07/04/2021 12:21

Different cravings, same sex x

BrumBoo · 07/04/2021 12:29

First one I was convinced was a boy, couldn't stop eating salty foods, had the stomach line and all the old wives tales. I was right. Second pregnancy, suffered too much with morning sickness for any cravings. Thoughts that meant a girl but I was wrong. Third one, had a huge aversion to salty tastes, carrying high, no stomach line, no sickness. Another boy Grin.

All old wives tales/sex predictors/gender woowoo is just that, just a bit of fun/nonsense! I think cravings are far more about what your body feels it's lacking in a pregnancy, rather than the sex of the child.

winniesanderson · 07/04/2021 12:37

Same sort of cravings (white spirit/rubber smells), same sex

Maray1967 · 07/04/2021 12:45

No cravings first time. Oranges second time. Both boys. I didn’t know they were thought to be sex-related just that it’s what your body needs, so I was presumably fine first time and vitamin c deficient second time!

Hollybollybingbong · 07/04/2021 12:45

Went off chocolate Shock and craved savoury, anchovies, olives etc with my son and could eat chocolate Grin and craved strawberry milkshake with my daughter.

When I say crave it was more a general preference than a 'must have'!

Whoopsies · 07/04/2021 12:45

Same sex, 2 very different pregnancies and cravings here!

DappledThings · 07/04/2021 12:47

No cravings or sickness either time, different sexes. Symptoms tell you absolutely nothing about the baby's sex.

lazylinguist · 07/04/2021 12:50

Craved fruit and went off red meat and game both times, different sex.

Everyday21 · 07/04/2021 12:51

Same sex, slightly more sickness second time but strong cravings for milk and dairy products both times. I used to eat whole tubs of clotted cream with a spoon 🤢
