What does the term 'Occasional Chair' mean to you?

I've been browsing online for armchairs and some of them seem to be labelled as "Occasional Chairs" so I'm wondering what to make of this. I've googled the phrase, and the headline results just state the obvious - that they are chairs intended to be used occasionally. Perhaps it's simply a marketing tag, interchangeable for 'Accent Chair'. But I'm wondering if there's more to it than that - perhaps it means they're more likely to be uncomfortable and/or not very resilient. The chairs I buy will be used 2-3 evenings a week for watching tv, which may or may not be considered occasional. If they split or sag after a few weeks, perhaps the seller will have an excuse to dismiss my complaint, because our usage wasn't 'occasional' enough! Smile

Does anyone have any experience, positive or negative, of Occasional Chairs?

Sometimes a chair ... other times something else entirely!

Sorry OP, no, I think it’s a chair that doesn’t match everything else, and may well be quite uncomfortable. We have one, it is mostly used when we have visitors and need extra sitting space.

It's meaningless. I would guess it's a chair that isn't well made enough to be used daily ie a waste of money.
