What to do? Refund dilema

Boring thread klaxxon!
I bought 4 items from ASOS, Shoes and 3 pairs of jeans, 2 of the jeans were the same but in a different size. They sent 4items, but the 2 jeans in different sizes were the same size. I have spoken with customer service and they've refunded me the missing jeans (the ones sent fit) but now I have 2 of the same size in the same style. I tried to explain that I ordered 3, got 3 but 2 of the 3 were the same but they still refunded me.
I'm sending jeans 1 back as that style doesn't suit me. Do I:
- keep the 'extra' pair and get 2 for the price of 1?
- return the extra pair thus getting a pair free
- attempt to explain again to them?
- something else?

I'd send them an email to customer service. Then return the extra pair. If they refund again that's their problem. You have told them twice and a third attempt at your expense is unreasonable. We once had something similar with very. I sent them an email explaining that they had refunded me for the item I still had. I never heard anything more. My email was quite clear and explicit. I had already rung them originally. Why should I make a third attempt because of their mistake.

You should have returned them as wrong item received rather than contacting the refund happy CS team but I would probably keep the extra pair as a bonus as it's their mistake twice over. Or pop them in the bag to return but don't mark them on the online form.

@herewegoagainst
I wasn't aware that was an option, I've never had this happen before. I will pop them in the bag when I return the other stuff.

At the minute for returns I think they have to quarantine the item before being able to sell it again, and pay for the returns postage (assuming they send you a free label to return things?) if they weren't that expensive they may have just decided it isn't worth the aggro of getting you to return it and just refunded instead because it was their mistake. I'd leave it. You've already tried to explain.
