To think this is one way PND manifested itself?

I spent huge amounts of money.

I bought my baby expensive clothes, nice clothes for me, things for the house.

It was stupid but I couldn’t stop.

Did anyone else have this?

My anxiety and depression makes me spend more money than I have. Before I went on my meds I went from having a brilliant credit score to now being on a dmp that will take years and years to pay off.

SugarCoatIt · 06/04/2021 10:04

Was this before or after the baby arrived OP?

tractorrose · 06/04/2021 10:05

After. I realised that it made me feel good, ordering things and then have something to look forward to when they arrived.

Interesting. I think mine partially manifested that way. I bought many more (expensive) clothes and toys than she could ever use. I tend to overspend when I’m feeling low, though (you should see my shoe collection!)

I am addicted to spending money, first it was all on drugs and thankfully I’m well out of that now, but now I’m spending over £400 on beauty products, I am so damn paranoid about ageing but I’ve put beauty products ahead of food, yikes!

I used to think the term “addictive personality” was just a cop out but I think I have one, I can’t just stick to cleanse, tone and moisturise, oh no, I’ve gotta go the whole damn hog and buy hylaronic acid, vitamin d serum, serums, day creams, night creams, and the list goes on...Shopaholicism is real folksConfused

I’m the same but then 10 mins after the new things have arrived, then I’m unhappy again!
ComDummings · 06/04/2021 10:32

I think spending gives you a temporary buzz, people can get addicted to shopping when they’re low so it could be part of it, yes.

LunaNorth · 06/04/2021 10:34

I get very spendy just before my period.

MissScotland101 · 06/04/2021 10:35

I have since learned that even if I had every material possession that I wanted, then I’d still be unhappy so that’s something I’ve gotta work on.

Elletine · 06/04/2021 10:37

Yes I had this! But for me I would scour eBay and the buzz came from finding lovely things (Frugi, Boden etc) and being the one to “win” them. It fizzled out when I felt better.
