I was going to Morrison's last Tuesday.
My friend asked me to pick her up a Easter egg (it was a big egg and it was £8)
So I said don't worry about the money, will you just pick me up 2 bars of dairy milk orange (£4) from the corner shop near you?
(Mine didn't have any )
She goes to the shop once sometimes twice a day.
I asked her if she managed to get any?
Her responses
Day 1 -totally forgot
Day 2-eeeee I totally forgot again
Day 3- would you believe I forgot again
Day 4- I still didn't get any 🙈

So I said "don't worry il just grab someone whenever I see it"
Saturday she said "no I've asked the guy in the shop to put it away for me,il grab them tomorrow "

Today I went to drop off the egg,and she goes
"Totally forgot to get your chocolate, don't worry there was loads left on the counter,so if you go now you will get it"
(So if you seen there was lots on the counter why didn't you buy me them??"

Handed her the egg and she gave me a orange Kit Kat.
No money nothing.

Aibu to think she just didn't want to spend her money on me?

Yeah she was being a cheeky fuck. Ask her for the money.

LagunaBubbles · 05/04/2021 18:26

But at that point why didn't you say to her "you owe me £8" Confused

Ginuwine · 05/04/2021 18:27

She owes you £8 or two chocolate bars

She doesn't want to pay you either

She is finding any way of getting out of it including cobh

Ginuwine · 05/04/2021 18:27

This!!

I really don’t understand these threads where people think their friends are being cheeky fucks but never even ask for the money. You’ll have a million replies to this thread but you’d actually get the money back if you just ask her for it. It’s so simple!

Ginuwine · 05/04/2021 18:28

*convoluted reasons!

(Why oh why did it keep posting haha)

islockdownoveryet · 05/04/2021 18:31

This actually made me laugh because she knew exactly what she was doing , you can forget once or twice but for several days .
She owes you £8 , so next time she asks you to get something’ forget ‘ .

CoffeeBeansGalore · 05/04/2021 18:31

Text her your bank account details/paypal payme details & say please transfer £8 for the egg you asked me to pick up for you as you obviously had no cash today. Thank you.

Cherrysoup · 05/04/2021 18:35

Yes, ask for the cash. She’s taking the piss and you know it.

BrilliantBetty · 05/04/2021 18:36

Well. I wouldn't make it in to an issue since it is only £8 but I would NEVER buy anything for her again & not help her with favours etc. She's a CF. Small amount to lose to learn this lesson.

This is the best response.

Don't get petty over £8 if you can help it. But definitely don't get anything from the shop for her again, and make it clear to her why if she asks.

BigPaperBag · 05/04/2021 18:40

Text her your bank details and request the money. Never lend money again.

InsanelyPregnantAndSore · 05/04/2021 18:46

In this situation I’d have gone with a
‘Let me know once you’ve remembered and have my chocolate then I’ll drop your egg round so we can do a swap’

She's already handed over the egg. Read the OP.
Arrowheart · 05/04/2021 18:50

Why did you give her the egg!!!!

Saz12 · 05/04/2021 18:54

Text her your bank acc info and ask for money to be sent over. If it doesn’t appear, ask her for it the next time you see her. Shes trying it on, CF.

drpet49 · 05/04/2021 18:54

£8 isn’t being petty. The friend needs to be called out on her behaviour.

ILoveRossGeller · 05/04/2021 19:08

She sounds like a flake... 😉

brenda33 · 05/04/2021 21:14

I said to her today "il be over for 2"
She replied she was going to the shop and see me at 2
So I assumed she would have the chocolate

OP posts:
Butwasitherdriveway · 05/04/2021 21:16

I would not have been taking that egg!

Not petty. It's an hour's wage for some people.

Raindancer411 · 05/04/2021 21:18

As her for the £8

FireflyRainbow · 05/04/2021 21:24

Can't believe she didn't then give you £8. Rude.

1Morewineplease · 05/04/2021 21:25

Just ask her for the money.

myusernamewastakenbyme · 05/04/2021 21:26

I hate being asked to pick up items from shops for other people...i always find it really awkward asking for the money back.
I now just say 'oh sorry none left on the shelf' or something similar.
Just to be clear though if someone was self isolating etc then of course i would help.

Chloemol · 05/04/2021 21:27

Just ask her for the money I fail to see why it’s a problem, she didn’t get you your chocolate so she owes you

Just keep asking for it
