Nervous to seek help for my own healthcare needs should I go private ?

3 years ago I had an accusation of FII (munchausens by proxy)
My child had digestive issues allergies and we were pursuing adhd and asd diagnosis as needs weren’t being met and he needed the diagnosis to access help .
It was awful. Child protection etc. Case closed but told ‘anything similar in future be prepared as you are on our radar’

I have not been ok for about 10 months now and I’m scared will I get accused of attention seeking for myself now like I was before with my child ?
Is it worth saving to go private instead to get the help I need ? Has anyone been through similar

That is really awful. I assume you no longer have anything to do with that awful man. It has left you in a terrible position though - did your child get any diagnosis at the time?

My advice would be to get back up from school, if they have concerns ask if they can get someone in to observe - my ds had someone come in from SEND who wrote a brilliant report. Private diagnosis in ASD/ADHD aren't really taken seriously in my understanding but can help in getting a referral for an NHS diagnosis.

However your child should not need a diagnosis to get the help they require at school. School should allocate help based on need not diagnosis.

Camhs diagnosed asd with pda on nhs in the end but we went through absolute hell

Wasn’t allowed to change gp either for safeguarding reasons (even though case closed no harm found etc) but I’ve kept away but I’m now worried will they accuse me of attention seeking as before

The school were the referrers ! I’m just concerned will they think I’ve moved onto myslelf they kept saying what is the motivation and making out that i was craving attention
The last thing I want to do is go to the gp about myself and it all starts again as it was hell

Locally there’s a private gp I was thinking do I just save to access that instead and private counselling alongside

Even private healthcare will flag any concerns for safety, so you can’t ‘hide’ that way. Don’t be afraid to seek healthcare if you need it OP. Your health is important.

I go private for my psychiatric care. You can self refer and no, they don't tell your GP. I'd go private if I could in your shoes. You can't move GP? Fuck, I'd probably move house so they couldn't control me like that.

Bloody hell this is awful! All three of my children have different issues I would be aghast if I was accused of this!
Definitely just go to the gp, is it a potential serious issue or something a pharmacist can possibly help with? Our chemist does clinics, you pay for consultation and they prescribe the meds if you need it.

I actually had never heard of it prior to it happening to me the first thing I knew something was wrong was getting a call from social services that they had to do a home visit I said I could do the following week they said ‘no. Today’
Looking back the school had called us for 3 meetings in the month prior and is thought they were being helpful but it turned out they were trying to build a case it seemed. I can’t blame social services at all i know they have to act on serious concerns.
Since then I have joined a support group and it’s sad that this happens to a lot of parents (often around asd and adhd diagnosis I’m not sure why this is a red flag)

I’m just terrified. They ripped my whole character to shreds so I’m scared it’ll all come up again and they’ll say I’m focusing on myself now it’s just scary I need some help as don’t feel good but I’m scared at the same time

There's no trust with that GP anymore. So it's not a matter of 'just go to the GP'. I'd go private. I go private because the wait lists were too long and also because I wanted to use a combination of drugs that a consultant has to prescribe but I have private health insurance, too.

At any rate, I'd go private in your shoes and find it really unfair you're not allowed to change GP. In fact, I'd consult a solicitor about that.

I was told the gp is an important part of safeguarding and they need to make sure they keep an eye on us. I was told fighting and complaining would cause more issues so I’ve had to quietly try and keep going and go to the dr literally if it’s life and death i think I’ve been once in that time for a serious infection and dc only for vaccinations and when unwell I get a family member to take them so I can’t be accused of lying about any symptoms it’s like I’ve had to remove myself from caring for my own children

I can easily access private counselling (for this whole issue)
For physical issues I will look at private gp/ consultant and see as i feel that I’d be more relaxed and I really do need some treatment I think
