Sun is shining, it’s warm.
Patio doors open.
One child playing, the other doing school project
Slow cooker on
I’ve caught up on housework.
I have pottered and read paper.
We went for a long walk with a friend and her children after lunch and there were markedly more people out. Strolling, chatting... smiling!
My son got to play rugby with his team for the first time in.... forever and loved every second of it. Came back on a high and wolfed down an enormous roast.
Easter egg hunt (with hindsight, far too challenging to have options include house, garage, shed, garden and attic!)

And I’m about to unwrap my new sun loungers.

It feels... good.
Life feels good.

Sounds like a great day OP! I'm also a single parent and love spending relaxed time with DS and hopefully will with his soon-to-be sister.

Lassolarry1980 · 04/04/2021 16:13

Single parent and pregnant - respect my friend.

The image of single parents have an unrelentingly hard time and the children cooking from broken homes is often so far from the truth.

I went to rugby today with my ex husband. He brought me a coffee and we missed most of the game as chatting!

They are in a home where there is No tension, no arguing (unless with me and them!)

Is it as perfect as a perfect family with mum and dad together?
No

Does that even exist?!

Yes. Single parent here. I'm having an amazing long weekend.

Friday DS and I spent 3 hours on the park having fun. Saturday we met a friend for coffee and had a family quiz night online. Today we had an egg hunt, a long sunny walk on the canal trail and now I'm cooking a roast. Tomorrow we will be having a movie day and chill as it's going to be a bit colder and I'm back at work on Tuesday.

I get on well with my ex husband too, I often get him to do a bit of DIY around my house Grin DS is spending the last week of the Easter holidays with his dad, the pub gardens open that week so I'm looking forward to going for drinks with friends and getting my nails done!

Life is good isn't it? Wine

Lassolarry1980 · 04/04/2021 16:22

Single parent- and ds with his dad!
Met up with d-boyfriend. Long walk. Now lazing in sun trap of garden.... in my bikini top... just watched women's boat race... not a bad day at all! 😂☀️

DrCoconut · 04/04/2021 16:29

Where do you all live? I've got my hoody on to try and keep warm. It's going to be freezing (literally) tonight according to the weather app. The sun is out which is nice but the warmth hasn't arrived yet. The kids are attacking eggs at the moment and will be talking to my ex later.

Lassolarry1980 · 04/04/2021 16:33

South east town

Honestly, it’s stunning
Glorious unbroken sun
My son in shorts and t shirt

I'm a widow (since kids were little). Yep sun is out and the birds are singing. I told my daughter to not worry about the fact she is not revising (GCSE year with lots of assessments coming up) for the holiday weekend and give herself permission to just laze today. Both my teens did an Easter egg hunt this morning (then fierce trading after). About to put the lamb in the oven. Day has been pretty nice and relaxed- no complaints!

Peace43 · 04/04/2021 16:41

Single parent here. We took our little old VW camper out this morning to a local beauty spot and walked the dog. We did the canal tow path with a long dark tunnel and an aqueduct. We had a drink and a snack in the bus in the sun before heading home. I sorted an egg hunt in the garden for DD and her cousins just before lunch and a BBQ followed by another walk in the fields. I’m now sat in the garden with wine whilst DD is amusing herself indoors. Was the 3rd lovely day on the trot. Tomorrow I have a leg of lamb to roast 😁

Mumofsend · 04/04/2021 16:43

I'm a single parent and definitely not enjoying today.

Bul21ia · 04/04/2021 16:46

So nice to read a jolly post!

The best part is that you get along with your ex husband ohh how I can dream cheers anyway Wine

Steptoeshorse1965 · 04/04/2021 16:48

I think if we all sit back and think a while, life is not really that bad despite all the shit out there presently.

cookiemon666 · 04/04/2021 16:55

I am a single parent to 3 teens and a 20 year old who is at home for nursing placement. We have walked the dogs twice, now watching crap TV. Stir fry for tea and making brownies after. My kids don't see their father, he was abusive. Life is so much easier now

Needhelp101 · 04/04/2021 17:04

Single parent here too and also having a good weekend! My children are with their dad for the next few days which meant I could chill out with my (support bubble) friend, enjoyed roast beef last night and steak tonight. Sowed lots of seeds, planted a buddleia bush and watched the guinea pigs enjoying the sunshine.
Finished watching The Terror last night, which was excellent.
Happy Easter everybody!

For many many many of us - yes I agree

Lovely day here too, with my DC. We have done a bit of light gardening, some decorating, a short walk, all really pleasant in the sun.
H is off somewhere, probably leaving lots of mess for OW to clear up after him, and moaning about something or other, not bothering us, so we are happy.

quicklybeingdrivenmad · 04/04/2021 17:11

Sounds like the prefect day enjoy, end of year accounts for me, but with patio open, so loads of light and sun and just about to finish get a glass of vino and chill, same as you tea in slow cooker, Enjoy

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 04/04/2021 17:30

Single parent here. The weather is glorious! Hid eggs in garden this morning - DD said she was too old for the Easter bunny but happily found all the eggs 🤣 Have pottered around the house, been for a walk and had a flop in the garden reading and listening to a podcast I wanted to catch up on. Just had a roast and am eyeing up the chocolate. Would I prefer to be with family and friends? Yes. Is the day chilled and relaxed? Yes. Life is good ☺️

DishingOutDone · 04/04/2021 17:32

I’m thinking if I was a single parent then yes, life would be good ...

ZebraSpotts · 04/04/2021 17:32

I'm happy for you, genuinely.

But I'm a single parent of 3, their dad doesn't see them. I'm exhausted and it's utterly endless and pretty shit today 🤷‍♀️

Happycat1212 · 04/04/2021 17:36

I’m a single parent to 4 and I hate how everything falls on me, I really just can’t enjoy it like others seem to, glad others enjoying themselves though Easter Smile

FireflyRainbow · 04/04/2021 17:40

Yes op life is good. We are blessed.

BroomHandledMouser · 04/04/2021 17:42

I don’t understand the single parent comment...

Pleased you’re enjoying your day OP!
