AIBU?
To think this is really selfish and entitled

My local Cub Scout group set up an free Easter egg hunt in a local beauty spot for all children to join in whilst on their walk. It was completely free and there were plenty of eggs for the children to enjoy providing they only had a couple each. My children loved it and had two small eggs each.
As were were leaving the trail a family came with carrier bags and said to their children help yourself to as many as you like... I didn't think much of it thinking their children would have a few but would still leave plenty for other children.
At the end of the trail was a tree swing so after my children had a short go each on that we walked back through the woods where the Easter eggs were as this was the only way out.
Every last egg had gone..... the family we noticed were the only ones to go through after we left and they had completely emptied it for other children who could have enjoyed it.
I am so annoyed why do people do this? There would have been more than enough for their children to have 5/6 eggs each and still plenty for other children but no they took the lot!

Im not surprised anymore. There are so many greedy and entitled people now. A lovely local lady, who does loads for the community, organised a free of charge egg hunt and the 2 events she organised she was mobbed both times by crowds of people and others helped themselves to bag fulls. I felt for her because these eggs had been donated.

YANBU. The organiser should have put up a sign, as PP said, but the problem is that cheeky, selfish people will ignore that, unless there's someone there to enforce it.
This type of behaviour is so frustrating! A few rotten people ruin so many things and put others off from bothering to do something nice for the community.

Things like this rile me but I don’t blame the kids, I blame the parents, I wouldn’t allow either of mine to stuff their pockets, like Billy Bunter.They would take one end of.I’ve met adults like this in the workplace, grabbing things just because they are free, without giving a damn about anyone else and they were well paid people.
drpet49 · 04/04/2021 20:26
I would have asked them what on earth they thought they were doing taken the bag of eggs back and given them back one per child. And called them cheeky entitled fat bastards. If no-one embarrasses people like this they will get away with it and carry on.
^I would have done the same.

@Goleor
That would be far better, and for those with allergies. It's so hard to navigate Easter with allergy DC

I bet they are the type of people who obsessively follow those tightarse websites. The sort who take all the plastic gloves from the dispenser at the petrol station or nick loo rolls from work. Or who deliberately plant hair in food at restaurants and try to scam a free dinner and drinks. What an example to set to kids.

@Goleor
That is such a good idea!
I absolutely detest the type of person the OP describes.
Our local shop made up Halloween bags last November and parents were literally pushing their offspring forward to grab more and more. People are fking awful.

I HATE people like this!! So many places stop holding events like this because of idiots like these. I couldn’t do this knowing other people would miss out.
They should have had people finding tokens or something instead and then taken them to receive one egg each.
