Not really aibu but posted this on womens health last night and not had a reply.

I am on a third month of a new pill. I'm not on the pill for contraception as my husband has had the snip. This is the first month I've noticed a mild ish period like cramp feelings it's still almost 7 days till I'm due. I'm not due to take the last pill till Thursday and it's usually the Monday that my period appears. Just wondered if this is normal. I've been very up and down with the pill and on various different ones I just don't seem to be able to tolerate it. Bit worried that this one is going the same way as its actually helping with the reason I went on it so really wanted to perservere with it

Classic example of why I never post on mn. If its a post about what you have ate that day it gets hundreds of replies but a genuine question on two separate boards and it gets ignored. Think I will go back to not posting Hmm

It’s hard to know exactly. The exact way that an individual responds to a pill is very different. Why are you on it?

Hi OP. As a PP said, people respond differently to the pill so it might be normal for you whereas it could be abnormal for someone else.

I'm afraid I'm not on the pill so my experience isn't really helpful, but I often get light cramping in the 7 days before my period along with some charming "gurgling" noises from my uterus. This doesn't happen to everyone but is totally normal for me.

If you're concerned, reach out to your GP.

Would you prefer 200 replies of "I don't know"? If someone had useful information they would post it. Thanks to your follow up post you will probably now get harsh replies; chat board would probably have been a better port of call.

MrsTulipTattsyrup · 01/04/2021 20:03

If it’s only mild cramping wouldn’t you persevere with it anyway, if it’s relieving the symptoms for which you’re taking it? I have always had all sorts of odd pains and cramps in between periods, on the pill, off the pill, before my ablation, after my ablation; I’ve always thought it was just normal.

If you’re worried that it might be something problematic, it’s probably not too soon to talk to your gp. But when I’ve been on the pill in the past, it’s taken several months each time to settle down.

DanielRicciardosSmile · 01/04/2021 20:33

If this is the first time it's happened, its difficult to say if it's pill related or not. Or even if it's period related or not tbh. How many days has the cramping lasted for so far?

Rowgtfc72 · 01/04/2021 21:00

I'm on the mini pill and get the feeling like someones drilling into my left hip two weeks before my period. Been on this pill 14 years and always had this but got worse as I've got older. Was on the combined pill before. Absolutely no issues!

MeltsAway · 01/04/2021 21:39

I thought at first what they call “mittelschmerz” - pain at ovulation. But if you’re on the pill, you won’t be ovulating, I suppose.

user1473878824 · 01/04/2021 21:43

@MeltsAway I didn’t think that was always the case but I say this as someone who hasn’t been on the pill for years!

I’d assume it was ovulation pain which I seem to get with a vengeance now I’m off contraception.

PMT by any chance, OP?

Rude OP

AliceAbsolum · 01/04/2021 22:03

Why wouldn't cramping before period be normal?!

MeltsAway · 03/04/2021 09:46

But if you're on the contraceptive pill, you're not actually having a menstrual cycle, in terms of ovulating.

Annie762 · 19/07/2021 19:25

I was wondering cN anyone help me ive just started ovulating again an im getting shooting pains in my bottom 😆🤦‍♀️ does anyone know of this is pain due to ovulation? Any reply would be deeply appreciated the pain comes an goes but is annoying 💖

allycat4 · 19/07/2021 19:28

I get ovulation pain and generally start getting cramps about 7 days before my period. I've always been like that - thought it was normal pre-menstrual symptoms?

YelloYelloYello · 19/07/2021 19:39

Could be ovulation pain or something like endometriosis.
