AIBU to ask where you get your cut for cloth vests?

I’m struggling to find vests to fit my baby in cloth nappies. Previously I have sized up, but even a size up is now tight around the bottom, but too loose elsewhere. It doesn’t help that he’s a long baby!

Does anyone have any recommendations for where to get vests? I love Frugi but they’re really too expensive for basics - 5 vests came to £47 😱 I have also tried vest extenders but I find them a bit of a faff and they don’t fit perfectly.

Thanks in advance!

You can get vest extenders for the bottom

Tidypidy · 29/03/2021 19:37

Try a normal vest or t shirt and tuck it in?

Frugi or most organic brands; Size up in H&M (reasonably slim in the body).
Brands for the Spanish or Scandi market are usually correct fit in cloth too.

^ as above though, it is getter warmer a vest not over the bottom will do.

Frugi

H&M vests with pleating round the bum (these tend to be the ones that have a round neck and poppers on the shoulders). Dutch brand HEMA also works well for us. Avoid Sainsbury's and JoJo Maman Bébé. It's also worth getting some vest extenders, we really rate the Nature Babies ones on Amazon.

Probably wouldn’t bother from now. Or if you really want to avoid gaps then try dungarees?

Vest extenders are one option. Aldi vests are also long in the torso and have a nice wide bottom for cloth nappies :)

A mix of vest extenders, h&m, and Asda seems generously sized.

CuteOrangeElephant · 29/03/2021 19:58

Secondhand Frugi from the FUNAP Facebook group.

We just got vest extenders. Ours came from etsy. So useful and fit most of the normal brands. We do have to make our own trousers tho as unless you buy the expensive organic brands they don’t fit!

John Lewis works for us.
John Lewis often comes up quite big so will probably work

I get m&s vests as they are nice and roomy but I use vest extenders, think about £6 for 3 from Amazon. They look a faff bit they aren't, once they're on its same amount of poppering up as a normal vest and will save you loads as babies often grow taller but still fit in vests width ways IYKWIM

AWryGiraffe · 29/03/2021 21:32

H&M conscious range are great.
