I found a really nice high end sofa on FB marketplace (West elm) on sale for 25% retail price. Owner says it's 7 months old so almost new. He wants to sell it for a low price as he is moving. I love the sofa. I would have to hire movers though as I don't have a car and it's huge (7 foot long).
I was very excited and told my husband but he said no because he likes our current sofa. Our current sofa is a cheapo one from Wayfair that's stylish but really uncomfortable. Ours is faux leather which he prefers as it's cool in the summer. The one I want is a comfortable fabric one.

YANBU. Leather is horrible, cold in winter, sticky in summer.

Have he made a purchasing decision recently? Point to that and say you're getting the sofa.

Being uncomfortable but cool is a crappy compromise.
Get the comfy one and buy him a fan?

I’d sulk too. There are a few nice leather sofas I’ve seen but can’t recall a faux one ever looking good.

YANBU. Leather or fake leather it’s both the same. Horrible, cold in winter and you stick to it in the summer

Fake leather is not cool in the summer, first of all. It's like sitting on bin bags. Does he always make all the decisions?

It sounds a bit of a hassle having to hire movers though, and the cost of that. Presumably it won't be too hard to fit the new one in your house if it's 7ft? and then you've got to get rid of your own one. Maybe he just can't be arsed right now with it all, in that lockdown inertia type way.

Any chance you could fit both sofas in your living room, then you could have one each?

I love my leather sofa, it’s not cold nor sticky. It’s 4 years old and still looks as clean as the day we bought it and we have two kids and two dogs.
I think it’s a bit wasteful to get another one, you obviously liked it enough to buy it.

Leather and faux leather sofas are gross. I’d buy it.

Did you choose the current sofa together? If so I think YABU. How old is your current sofa?

We have had our leather sofas for years and are thinking about replacing them, we have 2 dogs so although I would like a fabric sofa, leather is more practical for us. They can be cold in the winter, but we have a couple of throws.

YAY! The seller was so desperate to sell he was happy to almost give it away for only £150 (sofa worth £1800). I managed to hire a mover too for a reasonable cost.
The sofa looks so much comfier than ours.

My sofa isn’t too old. It’s almost 2 years. But it’s like sitting on a bench... you can’t put your feet up or lounge on it. It’s very firm. It’s super stylish but comfortable it is not.

Yes it’s a total bargain! The seller is moving tomorrow and was willing to drop the price massively.
