Should I pick up other dogs poo?

This has troubled me for a while. Most of the parks I go to with my doggie are also used by families and also youngsters playing football. Most owners are conscientious about cleaning up, but there must be the odd occasion for all of us when we don't notice if our dog has done a poo. My question is, if I'm about to pick up after my dog, and notice there is other poo not picked, should I pick it up too? I am torn between doing the right thing and being a doormat. What do people think?
I think we all as dog owners have a joint responsibility to keep the parks clean.
IABU- it's not my responsibility to keep the park clean of other dogs poo
IANBU- all dog owners should pick up poo they notice whoever's dog does it

I know what you mean OP but... the only thing worse than picking up a warm poo is picking up a cold one. Envy

Honestly I would think it was a beautifully kind thing for you to do if you did it, owners leaving dog poo makes me so angry- I don't want to have to monitor the floor when I'm playing with my child. But it's not really your responsibility anymore than it is mine (as a none dog owner).

I do on occasions, but sometimes feel guilty when I don't, I worry that people will think it's my dogs anyway. I've often picked up fox poo in the playgrounds, as I have pockets of dog bags . It's just so gross when it's not your own dog.

Its a bit grim Yez, but even grimmer if you're scrubbing it off your or your kids shoes or worse hands right?

We, dog walkers and running club, go out once in a while to poo and litter pick. The photo opportunity at the end is the point of it.

Over lockdown the number of unpicked poo has risen to a quite disgusting degree. So yes, if I know I have spare poo bags I will pick cold poo! Blech!!

I pick up other dogs poo if I see it somewhere it might get stepped in yes.

And I agree with a PP - it is particularly grim to pick up COLD dog poo - I don't know why!!!

I’m a dog owner and I always without fail pick up after my own dog but I’ve no intention of clearing up after someone else’s although I do send regular dog poo reports into the local council about the local green spaces and they send someone out .

Well I'd like it if you did because I couldn't do it but it's not your responsibility

PandaFluff · 28/03/2021 13:16

Don't feel obliged but if you feel like it why not. That's very kind of you.

GooodMythicalMorning · 28/03/2021 13:27

Not your job to pick up someone else's poop. I understand why though. Yes cold poo is particularly horrid to pick up. (which I keep trying to explain to the kids!)
