Does alcohol make you sneeze multiple times?

Random question need to check with people, Google is unhelpful.

Can alcohol make you sneeze frequently and rapidly? As in, up to ten sneezes under a minute?

I used to get that drinking any alcopops, and myself and my friends came to the conclusion it was my way of letting gas out instead of burping!! My mum gets it when she eats too much too!

GeidiPrimes · 28/03/2021 00:03

It happens to me when I eat a pudding with alcohol in it (don't drink)

lottiegarbanzo · 28/03/2021 00:04

Sulphates in fizzy wine do this to me sometimes. A lot of fizz is higher in sulphates.

QueenofallNorway · 28/03/2021 00:04

I’m allergic to some red wines. I think it’s the sulphites? They make me very sneezy

Northernsoullover · 28/03/2021 00:06

Not sneezing. It does turn me into an arsehole though Wink. To mitigate this I have given up.

Wingedharpy · 28/03/2021 00:06

Yes.
Google histamine and alcohol.

littlemisslozza · 28/03/2021 00:08

Not sneezy but I do get a runny nose with some alcohol.

crazylikechocolate · 28/03/2021 00:16

When I pick up my partner from work he gets into the car and immediately uses the alcohol hand sanitiser, it makes me sneeze several times in rapid succession every time

billy1966 · 28/03/2021 02:01

@Wingedharpy

Yes. Google histamine and alcohol.
This.
mrsbyers · 28/03/2021 03:05

Yep vodka gives me a bout of ‘boozy sneezes’

CodMouth · 28/03/2021 03:11

Dh sneezes at least 8 times when he’s had a sip of alcohol. He doesn’t drink because of it now.

Blacktothepink · 28/03/2021 03:18

Sometimes 🤣

Blacktothepink · 28/03/2021 03:23

I don’t get it if I drink champagne lol!

BornOnTwelthNight · 28/03/2021 03:35

Yes I used to get the sneezes, also a stuffy nose and hot, flushed cheeks. I’m now completely alcohol intolerant so no longer drink.

Aquamarine1029 · 28/03/2021 03:41

Over this past year I have become completely intolerant to red wine. Sneezing like mad, stuffed up nose, watering eyes, the works. Sadly, I have had to completely give it up.

ceilingsand · 28/03/2021 12:13

Wine does this to me if it is high in sulphites. I can have compulsive 30 minute sneezing sessions.
