The wall game show gives me rage

I love a game show but what the hell is this? Danny dyer doing the Danny dyer show while asking mind numbingly easy questions, e.g. what's 1+1? Is it:
A) 2
B)348653
C) 12

Then some stupid contestant debating out loud why the answer can't be the other two and meekly giving the correct answer.

Deal or no deal wound me up too. It's opening fucking boxes for gods sake.

What game shows drive you mad?

I'm not a total heathen, used to love the price is right and generation game.

@mrsjoyfulprizeforraffiawork

Never watched it but, in D Dyer's defence, he is a cockney and that is how they pronounce the word Wall. I thought regional accents were never criticised on telly and radio in these pc times.
I'm no fan either but you're right. Dyer's 'wawl' is just today's version of Cilla's 'lorra'.
Cattenberg · 28/03/2021 14:14

Who was the American celebrity who presented a game show over here? His catchphrase was “is that your idenidee?” [identity].

I’ve only seen a bit of Gordon Ramsay’s Bank Balance. He was insulting the contestants using the F-word and it didn’t even sound humorous, just hostile. I don’t know if it got any better, because I turned over.

Lucent · 28/03/2021 14:27

In fairness, Cilla’s ‘worra’ irritated me as well, and I like both Liverpudlian and Cockney accents. I think it’s Danny Dyer’s angry, constipated expression, and the level of combined bonhomie and aggression with which he seems to be addressing the ‘Waw’ in question that annoys me.

You want to say ‘Calm down, love, it’s a bit of the set with Angela Ripon’s voice, not someone challenging you to go outside after pub closing.’

LizBennet · 28/03/2021 14:28

I like it too Tootsey.

😂

iklboo · 28/03/2021 14:30

Fucking pointless.

No, that's a different show altogether.

megletthesecond · 28/03/2021 14:32

They can win a decent amount of money on The Wall. Did anyone see the brothers who wanted money to do up their mums garden and they came away with something like 100k 😭.

Lucent · 28/03/2021 14:34

@iklboo

Fucking pointless.

No, that's a different show altogether.

Is that the one where pairs of contestants crack and shout at Richard Osman that actually they have no idea which Ginger Rogers/Fred Astaire films 100 random strangers won’t have named, and he wouldn’t either if he weren’t looking at the results on a screen? Grin
Palavah · 28/03/2021 14:39

Caught this by accident a few weeks ago and was almost in tears at the two teenage brothers, one a wheelchair user, brought up by their single mum.

Now watch the last 10 minutes purely for Danny's gangster act

OrangeBananaFish · 28/03/2021 14:49

I love the wall. Just easy Sat night entertainment. Also the catch with Paddy. Though I agree with a PP that bit at the end. Well I was in there all alone and it was so hard. I had no idea. I kept thinking about what we could do with the money blah blah. Then its well we were doing well and at one point we had a billion pound then the red balls dropped and we were left with XXXXXXX. Its always the same spiel. I do love the rest of it though.

Not sure how true this it, but apparently the banker in deal or no deal was Richard Osman. So DH told me. I have no idea where he got that from or if it is true or not. Its just what he says.

The Chase is my fave though. Refused to watch that Gordon Ramsay one, he just annoys me anyway and I don't get why Gordon Ramsay would make a good quiz host, but there you go.

That was Identity, hosted by Donny Osmond. It was so cheesy but easy viewing, I liked it!

iklboo · 28/03/2021 19:21

We reckon Danny Dyer 100% really sounds like Rupert Everett & has to spend 20 mins getting into 'charictar' 😂

Cattenberg · 29/03/2021 13:37

Thank you APJ1!

Iklboo, doesn’t Danny Dyer’s daughter have the same accent as him? Although, who knows, maybe they’re both “in charictar”?

DoreenWinkings · 29/03/2021 14:01

DH was one of the family frinds in this on the first series. Apparently the wall itself is very impressive.

I can't comment on it any further as I've not watched it.
