I've lost 6 stone over the last year. I should be ecstatic but I'm not. I was 25 stone, I'm now 19 stone 2. I just feel I have so far to go why get excited but simultaneously I feel happy they I've got this far.. but I just feel I shouldn't cellist yet. I mean I have 8 stone to go yet Sad

Well I for one am impressed! I just wouldn't have the self discipline you obviously do.
Embrace the fantastic achievement and feel good about it!

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 27/03/2021 01:09

6 stone in a year? That's amazing. No, you haven't met your incredibly ambitious goal but it's one hell of a milestone. You need to reflect on what you've done and not necessarily celebrate but at least have a day of feeling really proud of the mental fix you've achieved to get you so far. And set out on your next step from a good place.

Turquoisa80 · 27/03/2021 01:15

That's amazing.. Keep going. Its the journey not the destination that will help you the most.

Lovethewater · 27/03/2021 01:19

You have lost 24% of your body weight which is just brilliant and are just over 42% of the way to your weightloss target. I think it can take time to 'catch up' psychologically and emotionally, which possibly explains the mixture of feelings you are experiencing. Set yourself some mini goals along the way and embrace each one. One more stone and you are half way to your target, the next stone takes you to 10 stone lost. Be proud of yourself.

OP you have achieved an incredible weight loss you should be so proud of yourself 🎉

Sending support and congratulations to you lovely 🌸

UrbanRambler · 27/03/2021 01:46

You've done brilliantly, but it's understandable that you might find things tough going as you are roughly at the halfway point in a long journey. Keep going, you could be at target weight this time next year.

RickiTarr · 27/03/2021 01:53

If you don’t fee physically great just yet, then feel good about your progress, and your achievement, and how much closer you are to your goal. I hope you have a chart showing the loss as a visual thing to look at (paper or app or anything at all)! Grin

What you’ve done is amazing! Smile

Sparklesocks · 27/03/2021 01:55

I’m sure if you were able to tell the 25 stone version of yourself a year ago that she manages to shift 6 stone in a year and counting she would be ecstatic! During a stressful pandemic no less when a lot of people are eating/drinking more as there’s not much else to do.

Celebrating doesn’t mean quitting, it’s just acknowledging how hard you’ve worked and the results you’ve got. If a friend of yours managed the same I bet you’d be really chuffed for them right? So try to extend that excitement to yourself too.

RickiTarr · 27/03/2021 02:00

How about starting a new regime now to help with the next stage? Realistically you want to start treating your skin really well for maximum elasticity. I’m thinking dry brushing, body butters and collagen supplements. Would something like that make the next bit feel more real?

Notimeforaname · 27/03/2021 11:56

That is absolutely amazing!

I work in the sports and fitness industry and have only seen a small number of people accomplish what you have!
You need to recognise how much you have actually done and use that as motivation for the rest!! Well done keep going!!

Whatfrolics · 27/03/2021 12:02

Allow Mumsnet to give you official permission to celebrate and feel good about yourself op! You have done brilliantly and I really envy your self discipline. Can you buy yourself an enormous bunch of flowers or some new sports clothing to give yourself a bit of a boost? StarStarStar

Sosigsandwich · 27/03/2021 13:52

Bloody hell that's incredible!! Well done you.

mummylovesthesunshine · 27/03/2021 13:57

Congratulations on your weight loss. That is amazing.
I would assume that maybe you haven't processed the fact that you have lost so much weight yet? It must be a hard thing for the mind to come to terms with. You must literally feel and look like a completely different person.
Can you speak to a therapist? Buy some nice new clothes in your new dress size ?

rainyskylight · 27/03/2021 14:02

You should celebrate where you are and what you’ve achieved, and look forward to celebrating your future goal weights!! You’ve done amazingly to get this far, well done you!!!! So many people would have given up. Truly inspirational, it’ll be worth it in the end and you WILL get there!!!! 💪🏼

HollowTalk · 27/03/2021 14:15

Have you seen this week's How to Look 10 Years Younger? One of the women featured had lost a lot of weight too. I think you might find it useful - she was struggling a bit, too.

Congratulations on your weight loss - you've done so well.

Ideclarethumbwar · 27/03/2021 14:16

That’s phenomenal. Think about how many healthy years you’ve added to your life through your hard work over the last year. It’s incredible. I am also on a ‘big’ journey that feels overwhelming when I think I’ve got 6 stone to go, but I’m trying to enjoy the small milestones instead of thinking how far I’ve yet to go.
Congratulations OP 🙌
