Hi all

So long story short i have applied for a job within social care. My employer ran a pnc check which showed no trace but i still have to do a dbs check. I thought they were the same thing..?? Does anyone know the difference? Of course i have nothing to hide but i can not start work until the dbs comes back and i am so desperate to start!!

I think it might be that spent convictions would not show on the pnc check but any relevant spent convictions would show up on the DBS.

First stage of a DBS check is via the PNC computer.
For certain jobs, there follows another stage looking at whether the person is on various lists, eg barred from working with children.

If it helps I applied for a Dbs recently and it arrived very quickly. Congratulations on the new job
