Mumtwoboys90 · 25/03/2021 13:54

There are application forms, fill it in and see, but it mentions giving care, as in how much extra care the person needs, so not sure if it applies.

You could call your GP and ask if your eligible.

My husband is disabled and had to shield, as are my parents. I went on the website and put in my details and they said they will send me an appointment. I don't think It's actually written down with my gp that I'm an unpaid carer though 🤷‍♀️

Mumtwoboys90 · 25/03/2021 14:00

I think you are eligible. I had mine as i care for my grandad during covid. I’m not registered as a carer and don’t get carers allowance, but the booking site said care of elderly or vulnerable to covid so I booked. No one questioned it when I went for the jab, just asked who I cared for and that was it.

Mumtwoboys90 · 25/03/2021 14:17

ok thats helpful to know racoonworld thank you

If you have answered all questions truthfully and it lets you go to a booking page then just book the appointment. It will not let you book if you aren't eligible yet or if there aren't any appointments available.

NeedaLittleNap · 25/03/2021 14:34

I think you're eligible too. The point of vaccinating carers is to protect the vulnerable people they look after. You're not doing it for fun and you're not taking it away from someone who needs it more urgently.

Graciebobcat · 25/03/2021 14:35

You don't have to be registered with your GP as an unpaid carer or get a carers allowance. Just answer the questions truthfully on the site and see if you get through. I think it asks you if you are caring for someone in a high risk group - then there is a link to a definition of that (DM was Group 2 for vaccines and is diabetic) and it asks you whether you do one or more of things like helping someone: wash and dress, with transport, with medicines, with food, with filling in forms etc. I could tick several of those things.

They didn't ask for any proof or any questions about this at the vaccination centre.

MadeForThis · 25/03/2021 14:39

If you are genuinely caring for someone who is vulnerable then you are entitled.

It's the people who pick up their granny's shopping once a week who aren't entitled.

This may help - Covid vaccine guidance from CarersUK.

Bbee29 · 25/03/2021 15:26

If your child has a condition that makes them
Vulnerable then you should absolutely be entitled. You need to register as a carer with your gp. I did this via and they were great and I was invited to get one shortly after. I do get Carers allowance but I know others who do not
Get the allowance and is still a carer.

I can only assume your doctors surgery will hold a record that your child is cev so so ring them or do an e-consult 😘

Graciebobcat · 25/03/2021 16:11

Thanks @UniversalAunt, I almost posted the same advice. That's what I read and then decided to go for it.

nicknamehelp · 25/03/2021 16:19

If you call the vaccine helpline they will discuss it with you and book you in if eligible this is what I did as dd cev I've to take the letter with me saying she's cev.
