It's my Birthday, AIBU to feel sad?

I'm not sure why. I just feel a bit sad today. It's only 9am! The sun is shining, I'm sitting in the garden. But I feel sad.

It's a weird time to have a birthday. 2nd lockdown birthday in a row (I know, it's mine tomorrow) but try and think of all things you have to feel grateful for.

It's a bit of a cliche, but it works.

Or maybe go for a walk? It's a lovely day and that always lifts my spirits.

I know how you feel, mines next week and it's a big one too. I'm really hoping I can have a friend over for cake in the garden but there's supposed to be cold weather coming 🙄. Last year I didn't mind cause I was planning to have a big get together this year, but I'll be lucky if I can even have a friend round. Probably just a take away at home.

We will just have to celebrate it in Summer instead 😁

Happy birthday. I felt this way on my birthday a month ago today actually. I wanted to hide away and pretend it wasn’t happening. Unsure why, I think it was primarily because we couldn’t really mark it in any meaningful way so I couldn’t be arsed with it.

Yep, 2nd Lockdown Birthday in a row! I'm quite introverted so wouldn't have had a big celebration anyway but a nice pub lunch followed by a stroll along the river would have been nice! We are going to do that once things open up again though. I've had some lovely cards, a cake and DH is making me dinner tonight. I'm currently stretched out on a sun lounger enjoying the sun so it is a nice day but I can't help feeling a little sad anyway.

I always get a bit sad on my birthday. Think everytime it comes around my own mortality really hits me.
I was really looking forward to it last year. Was my 30th and dp had arranged a small surprise party for me, and we ended up in lockdown the weekend before. I was gutted to be honest because I've never had a party 🤣. Thought we would be able to do it this year instead but here we are again!

Having a second birthday in lockdown does suck, and brings home the fact that we've sort of lost a year of our lives (like we do every year of course, but this hasn't been worth it). Birthdays are always a bit poignant as an adult, which is why we celebrate and drink and turn it into a party imo. You can't do that (again) which is sad, but I hope you will be getting to celebrate on a small scale with someone.
