Bf punched a hole in the wall

Came home from work today and noticed a hole in our wall about 2 inches wide.
Asked him what had happened and he said he had punched it in anger.
We are in a rental property, so unless we can cover it well we'll be paying for damages.
He said he's done this in a previous flat too.
Aibu to be mad at this.

Just get shot of him. And don’t pay for a thing.

Why did he do it ? There can’t be any valid reason. Do you want to be with someone who punches a wall?

You really have to think about this? Get shot of him before you're the wall next time.

I’ve been with my partner 18 years, he has suffered with anxiety and depression for several years but i started to notice it escalating when I came home to a hole in a cupboard door and the door leading to the attic.
It was more a a cry for help- if noticed he was depressed but hadn’t realised how isolated he was feeling and a deep sadness. He has struggled with suicidal thoughts too.
Anyway the door punching was a few years ago I didn’t leave him. He has never raised a hand or shown any type of violence towards me i still feel very safe.

Start by asking him why he did it, not in a confrontational way, tell him you expect him to take ownership of it and have it repaired and encourage him to seek help through his gp or Mind

If you stay and have children and this behaviour continues Childrens Services will class this as domestic abuse and you will need to convince them you are capable of protecting them.
Children witnessing this behaviour will suffer - are you prepared for that sort of fallout OP?
