Dh works for an electrical company, Scottish Power for example. He is in RP which often involves going to houses/business etc that have rigged metres and cutting them off
Alot of these metres have been rigged in such a way that they are so dangerous.. ie days away from exploding and going on fire, these are houses and also flats.. the repercussions could be devastating. (Just trying to give an insight into how some of these people think, or rather, dont!)
Dh was at a homeless unit last week, the lady who runs that part let him in. There were needles lying about Envy and animal (I hope!) faeces on the floor.
Dh was walking through the hall to the meter and he turned round to tell his.colleage to watch the needles on the floor. He turned round and a LIVE cable just missed his head (Dh is 6") he refused to go any further into the house to fix the.meter and instead just pulled the outside fuse, leaving this guy with no leccy at all. The woman from the homeless.unit.was raging with the guy, dh was raging, telling him that the wire he had.left hanging would.have killed him if.it had hit him on the head. The guy is now.upset he has.no electricity but.all.i can think is fuck you!! You could have killed my husband! Dh and colleague left it safe which is legally all.they have to.do. the company now.want dh to.go back to this.property and put the electricity back on, Dh has said only if they can guarantee that there are no live hanging wires etc. This guy had also bypassed his meter dangerously, in a block of flats which houses babies and children.. aibu to think sorry but get to fuck.. put your own life at risk.but not other peoples!!

Excuse.all the full stops I have a new phone and the keyboard is different!

This was an issue for me several years ago. Dh (father of my 3 dc) was killed on site by a very dodgy bypassed metre. I took his work to court for insisting he did the job, despite previously being deemed as unsafe and I also sued the HA that owned the property for allowing one of their tenants to have dangerous electrical wires. It wasnt as black and white as that but basically I won and they were forced to pay me almost 0.5 million in compensation. Dh was only 33 and was wearing the correct PPE, but some wanker who wanted free electricity caused him his life.

I’d get him to seek advice from the health and safety executive and also to speak to his union rep if he has one, as surely this isn’t safe work practice www.hse.gov.uk/contact/concerns.htm
