Sorry in advance. I have posted in Women's Health but with no responses so posting here now for, hopefully, more traffic.

I'm 5 months post partum (C section). I had a routine smear this morning, and before she started I told her that sex had been a bit tender since having my son. She said she'd use the small speculum but it was still fairly painful when she opened it.
She took the smear but then told me that internally I seemed very swollen (?) and that as soon as she touched my cervix it bled a lot.
She then advised that when results come back I should book a GP appt, even if they're negative.
As rational as I'm trying to be, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't feeling bloody unsettled now!
Has anyone had similar, is this normal? She seemed as though it wasn't common which is what has thrown me.

sounds like an ectropion?

Ethelfromnumber73 · 22/03/2021 13:27

It sounds like she might have been wondering if you need some swabs to rule out infection?

You're only 5 months PP so try not to worry. I suffer with health anxiety and what she said wild have thrown me right off. You could still be swollen from having your DC.

Would* not wild.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I had a telephone appt with the GUM clinic this morning and they are seeing me Thursday morning. I just feel so sick to my stomach, its not like me to be overly anxious about my health but this has totally thrown me.

Hi,
I had this exact experience pretty much, bleeding on touch and described as friable.
My mind immediately went to worst possible scenario as I had attended due to pain after sex, bloating etc.
Turned out to be hormonal issue, no ongoing problems so try not to get too worried plenty of non concerning explanations and sounds like they are looking into it which is the main thing.

Thanks so much, that's so reassuring. I think I just needed to hear some not-so-concerning reasons for those symptoms.
