Just that really. By the age of 40....
What do you think a person should have done and achieved?
What should a person know?
What should a person be able to do?

They should have lived alone
They should have held down a 'steady' job
They should know how to manage money
They should ideally have been able to make and keep at least a couple of friends
They should know who they are

Blow dry your own hair into a vaguely recognisable shape.

I have not managed this but am only three years overdue.

Royalbloo · 21/03/2021 18:25

They should have made a fair few "mistakes"
They should have a foundation which matches their face
They should be comfortable in their own skin and wearing whatever they want to
They should know that every single business in the world exists for one purpose - to make money, so every time you buy a anything you're lining someone's picket

*pocket lol

What do you mean by living alone? The only way I'll manage to live completely alone is by ditching the husband and kids in the next five years (lived with parents, then house shares, then with husband...)

Tinpotdictator · 21/03/2021 18:29

Drive
Manage money
Stand up for themselves
Feel happy in their own skin
Achieve something outside of work
Know that most of the time honesty is the best policy

TeenMinusTests · 21/03/2021 18:31

I guess maybe I didn't so much mean 'live alone' as 'live independently whilst also not having a partner'.
I don't think it is good for people (women especially) to not know they can cope in the world without a partner, as it can stop them breaking up with someone who isn't good for them.

Understand interest, credit and overdraft fees (lack of this nearly killed me at 19)
Recognise when relationships, friendships etc aren't worth it and ditch them.
Can do laundry without even thinking about it and have a system for all of it. (am proud of myself now for this but only very recently)
Know what is in my pensions and how to manage them.
Own a lawn mower!
