Would you complain to the hairdresser?

I never used to have the balls to but these days I think sod it, a colour is far too expensive to put up with if it’s wrong or not what I asked for! Have you ever complained to your hairdresser and did they redo it?

My hair colour kept fading quickly, rather than change hairdresser I asked what we could do, she consulted their rep and changed the mix, now it works well for me. It wasn't a complaint but speaking up addressed the issue and I would be much more willing to now. I think it's hard when it's just done or if you need to go back to say you don't like it. A student once gave me the most godawful thick stripe highlights, not what I asked for at all. At first I quite liked it, then realised she probably had messed up, but didn't have the heart to complain.

Yes, I did. It was a cut not a colour and it was super uneven. I made my mum come with me (I was about 25 Grin) they were really nice and the senior stylist fixed it but I never went back.

yes - a cut where it was all going well, then at the end, the hairdresser chopped off the side that i'd asked her to leave long, leaving me with a ridiculously short unflattering fringe. It was just before an important occasion, which left me doubly irritated.
I complained to the manager, who agreed that he would not charge; a couple of days later I had their credit control team calling and accusing me of walking out without paying. A long tirade from me, followed by assertive tweets and they dropped it.
And given that I'm here, still cross (although years ago and the fringe long since grown out) Don't use the Aveda Lifestyle Salon and Spa on High Holborn.

Horrible stripey highlights and too blonde for my colouring. I questions or at the time and he convinced me it looked great and I needed to get used to it. I rang back later that afternoon and said I would NEVER get used to it. He even had the nerve to say - have you asked other people what they think. I said - I don't like it, I'm the one who has to live and they didn't pay for it. Went back early evening and he sorted it out. Looked much better.

Catflapkitkat , I am a blonde and for me the blonder the better, but I have found over the years that some hairdressers are really “blonde happy” and are keen to go mad with blonde even when people don’t like it or want it!

I have in the past gone back because I didn’t like the way my hair was cut at the front. It wasn’t sitting right. Hairdresser was fine and actually thanked me for coming back when I wasn’t happy as it meant I returned to them rather than just went elsewhere the next time.

I had a bad cut and experience by a lad who clearly had the hangover from hell. I complained and a very senior stylist called me and discussed it and she fixed it. She’s been doing my hair ever since.

Doingitaloneandproud · 21/03/2021 13:17

I have, I had it dyed and was in there for nearly4 hours as they all had more than 1 client at a time so lots of waiting around , when I came out and could look closer I noticed underneath no greys had been dyed and the previous dye where it had faded, was still showing so they hadn't rubbed the dye through properly. As the cut and colour cost nearly £130 I complained, they redid it unhappily and I never went back.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 21/03/2021 13:19

I paid £80 for a dreadful hair colour and a sassy attitude to boot, went home and gave myself a talking to and rang the manager and asked her to redo it for me.
She did a lovely job but it was all very awkward and I never went back.
