To expect to return headphones?

DS got some gaming headphones in Jan from Argos and the microphone stopped working. I returned them as faulty and ordered a different brand in the hope it would last longer. Due to Covid, I couldn't just swap, I had to get a refund then order online and pick them up via click and collect.

I collected the new ones and they don't fit his head very well and are uncomfortable around the ears. I took them back and was told they are consumable electronics and can't be returned. Due to Covid, they have touched his skin so can't be returned as can't be resold.

They are an online purchase, and Argos have a 30 day money back guarantee - no questions asked. Apparently. I'm within my rights to return my online purchase for any reason, aren't I?

They're talking crap. They can always put them in isolation before reselling them

Exactly what I thought. As well as distance selling rights, as it's technically an internet purchase. I should be able to return them no matter what.

The manager was stood right next to the poster saying 30 days returns - no questions asked. I asked and she just said it doesn't apply to headphones as they touch the face.

It's ridiculous.

Daft. I have returned clothes during covid so I don't see how headphones touching skin could be any different.

I recently had to do a return with Argos for a scooter.. they collected it from my house.

Have you tried using the live chat option on their website? They were super helpful when I needed them and I could pick a time slot too.

Nope of course you should be able to return them, I’d email their customer services
