Neighbours aibu?

Wigmic · 19/03/2021 17:15

Just went outside to find my neighbours sat on my window ledge, cup of tea and fag in hand, and a car parked outside our house with about 5 people hanging out of it all surrounding our door having a nice little catch up. They didn’t even bother to move or apologise when I opened the door for a delivery.

I went back and asked politely they move over to their house, and was confronted with one of the neighbours teenage daughters calling me “fucking rude”

AIBU to ask them to get off our house and move down the street?

For context there’s so bad blood between us although we’re not friends either, just the usual nod of the head when we pass each other.

So do you have a front garden or open up straight onto the pavement?

OldEvilOwl · 19/03/2021 17:20

Yanbu did they move?

thecatandthevicar · 19/03/2021 17:20

YANBU

but these kind of people are trouble.

Not sure what you will achieve by asking them. No one decent would do that in the first place, and if they are already insulting you, it sounds like neighbours from hell.

I 'd be more wary of antagonising them, even if you are 100% right and they are wrong.

Sadly there's no protection against neighbours from hell.

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 19/03/2021 17:21

Well I think you know who is actually fucking rude and it's not you.

Daffodil123456 · 19/03/2021 17:23

Yanbu

Our neighbours have a similar social understanding problem & now we have managed to get the Council/Police to start a ASB order on them.

waitingpatientlyforspring · 19/03/2021 17:26

So rude of them to be leaning on your window sill. I assume you front is right on the street like a traditional terraced house and the spare parking space was near yours which is why they were there. Rude completely but some people are like that.

CyberdyneSystems · 19/03/2021 17:31

It's very apt that the girl called you rude when you were polite but she is actually the one being rude

I would try to avoid engaging with them wherever possible but I'm sure you already do

LApprentiSorcier · 19/03/2021 17:34

Time to clean your upstairs windows if it happens again. Oops, there goes my bucket!

Wigmic · 19/03/2021 17:35

Ah yes sorry should have said, it’s terraced houses so the door opens onto the street. The parking space in front of their house was free so there was no need for them to be outside ours. I can only guess that they didn’t want their meet up to be linked to their house.

They had a similar set up 2 nights ago around 10pm with a bigger group but I didn’t want to go out to say anything with such a large group there.

@Daffodil123456 how did you get that in place?

OP posts:
Palavah · 19/03/2021 17:45

Next time there's a group, call the police?

FedUpAtHomeTroels · 19/03/2021 17:47

Maybe call 101 and report the gathering if they decide to do it late at night again. Bloody rude.

EggysMom · 19/03/2021 17:53

I tried to call 101 two days ago to report a similar gathering of eight youths outside our house. They had dispersed after 10 minutes, it took longer than that for my phone call to be answered (12 mins before anyone answered).

warmandtoasty2day · 19/03/2021 17:54

scumbags, poor you having this trash for neighbours

Daffodil123456 · 19/03/2021 18:26

Documentation of events for the last few months & not giving up.

DogsSausages · 19/03/2021 18:44

Bloody cheek of sone people. Were there adults there too. . Can you attach anything to the window ledge like mini railings.

Wigmic · 19/03/2021 19:06

@DogsSausages it was the parents sat on the window! They were all adults with 3 older teenagers. Sadly we rent so we can’t modify the house.

That’s a good idea about logging everything, I shall start doing that from now on. Hopefully there won’t be much to report!

MumW · 19/03/2021 19:12

You need to clean the bedroom windows above them! 🌧 😉🤣

mumwon · 19/03/2021 19:20

@mumW absolutely with nice wet sponge - Oh damn I dropped it sooo sorry - false smile with battering of eyes!
or
empties out dc (full of apple juice) potty
(not really op! :) )

Knitterbabe · 19/03/2021 19:21

Window box with horribly prickly plants.
Nasty substance smeared on windowsill.
Just a thought; they sound awful.

mumwon · 19/03/2021 20:00

re - paint windowsill?
or take photo (discretely) & send to police
(I blame my enjoyment on thinking about nasty revenge on too much time on my hands & frustration with covid - or was I always truly evil? (grin) )

DogsSausages · 20/03/2021 11:08

The landlord or letting agents might want to know that people are gathering outside your house and sitting on their property

MNWorldisCrazy · 22/03/2021 12:01

Vaseline on window ledge

hardboiledeggs · 22/03/2021 12:03

My answer would have been “naw being rude is planking your fat arse on someone else’s window”

hardboiledeggs · 22/03/2021 12:04

You can get cheap cctv and give it the recordings to he police with your diary
