Anyone here ever been on Masterchef? What’s it like?

I’d like to apply next year, I think I’m quite a decent cook but not sure about having to think on my toes really quickly to come up with something amazing

I want to know what happened on taht one they cut out one of the contestants!🙈

I always wonder about how much time you have to practice in-between 2 episodes

Surely they must be allowed recipes when they cook?
Or do they really have to memorise exact measurements for hundreds of dishes off the top of their heads??

Maybe with the thinking on your feet thing, if you had a few recipes up your sleeve you could twist them to fit your brief? Eg that holiday one they did (this week or last week, I forget) you could have come up with anything pretty much!

I’m sure I saw that the contestant had an argument with Marcus Wareing but don’t think it was ever confirmed

Ok this is really weird - I just randomly remembered that master chef professionals edited out a contestant last season, so googled to see if an explanation ever emerged. Couldn’t find anything, decided to mosey over to AIBU, and this is the first thread I see

A bit late to this, but interested to hear if anyone has an experience on the show! Things might be different on the UK series but I remember reading that Masterchef Australia contestants are given e.g. three types of dish that might come up in the next challenge. So they can work on certain skills or learn a recipe for a pudding or whatever it might be, but without bringing an entire prepared recipe on the day.
