To think my carrots smell like vomit

Weird one this. A few weeks ago I noticed my usual carrots from Asda smelled a bit weird and were not particularly nice to eat. They were not off, it smelled a bit ‘vomity’. It was quite off putting so I switched to organic and they were much better, although twice the price for half the weight. Went back to my usual bag this week and again they are just really not nice.

What’s going on with carrots just now? Is it just me, have I lost the plot? Is it vomit season for carrots? I know that aren’t new season lovely carrots, but I don’t remember them ever being like this before. Can I blame Brexit? Also, I haven’t had covid, it’s not my taste, the family agrees with the sicky smell and rancid taste.

My carrots were like that, I bought them on Wednesday and went to use them for Sunday dinner and they were all slimy and minging.
They were in a pre packed bag, so I may switch to the loose ones in future, see if that makes a difference, so no it's not just you!

Glad it’s not just me. Not the most exciting mumsnet topic, but really made me feel a bit queasy. We eat loads of carrots and they’ve always been fine until the last few weeks.

May have to suck it up and pay top dollar for organic - or start growing my own!

It is the packaging.
I picked a bunch bananna for a box in the supermarket the overwhelming smell of vomit hit me, I called the assistant thinking someone puked in the box, she assured me that's the smell on arrival.
Give them a good wash or buy individual non organic ones you can sniff in the supermarket.

I have noticed carrots get the horrible sickly sweet smell (ie squish my rotting) very quickly now when I bring them home.
