My girlfriend has been watching a college friend of mine stream on YouTube and has commented a few times on the stream and now they’re going to play games together. But they haven’t told my friend who they are and that they know them through me. Is it just me or is that a bit odd? I told her she needs to tell him who she is before she gets in too deep and it becomes awkward but I’m worried it already is. I’m not jealous cause my friend is gay. We’re not even that close, more as acquaintances really. AIBU? I just dunno if my friend will be a bit weirded out by it? Or should I be happy that my partner wants to support them and make a new friend who they have lots in common with?

I'm 49 and can happily report that I have not the foggiest clue what you are on about.
Are you all 12?

They should definetly tell them that they know of them via you. It's weird to pretend they just know them as a "fan" type thing.

if you're not that close maybe she thinks it would be akward saying. Are you sure it's not come up anyplace anyway like where she found the youtube.

What is 'too deep'

But they don't know your aquaintance because of you, they know them from online. Maybe I'd mention oh we have a mutual connection, you used to go to Uni with my bf or similar but she's just watching some dude on YouTube, how is she getting in too deep??
