To ask for an "I just need to rant" area

Here is mine. This evening's vigil has really annoyed me because those turning up knew it was against lockdown rules. People have not been allowed to visit their loved ones in care homes and they obeyed the rules. Why do these people think that they are above the law? We all feel that we should feel safe walking the streets but there are better ways to show this. I feel that these women wanted to cause trouble. Who really were the people there? I suspect that there were quite a few there hoping to see things go wrong. Not in my name. Not in her name. Protest by voting for the right people, educating, being kind and moral leadership not by putting people's life in danger so that you get your photo on the front of a newspaper. Rant over.

I want to rant about people turning up to a peaceful vigil being treated appallingly by the police.
And the fact that this vigil was needed in the first place.
And the fact that women are treated appallingly by men in everyday society.

DramaAlpaca · 13/03/2021 23:47

I'm with @PurpleDaisies on this.

I thought AIBU was the rant area.
I agree with PurpleDaisies and DramaAlpaca

Yeah. The women mourning Sarah Everard and peacefully holding a vigil because women aren’t safe were probably there for a darker reason. Who even were these people?! Oh, women. That’s it.

Fairyliz · 13/03/2021 23:54

Ok op tell us the better ways?
I know let’s go to the police when we are scared.
Oh no that won’t work will it?

Blancah · 13/03/2021 23:57

With any protest or mass gathering, you'll always have people who don't give a fuck about the subject matter turning up to cause trouble. Opportunist tosspots.

user1473878824 · 14/03/2021 00:07

@Blancah I agree. Today it was a man trying to stage a little anti-lockdown protest.

ElizaLaLa · 14/03/2021 00:09

Why do these people think that they are above the law?

Maybe because the blm protests were allowed.

Why is one cause allowed to gather but others aren't?

Ipadannie · 14/03/2021 00:10

Guess you're including the member of the royal family who was there today too?
