Sudden unexplained allergic reactions?

Has anyone experienced the above? I know none of you are doctors and i fully intend to consult the GP on Monday morning. However the past 2 nights I have had a reaction to something the first was localised to my left side the second spread all over my body. See pic. DP has anaphylaxis so I'm acutely aware of the implications of severe allergies but until this point I've never been allergic to anything?? Both nights this occured around 11pm when I had ingested nothing except water since dinner.

what part of your body is that?? has it responded to antihistamine?

firstevernamechange · 13/03/2021 10:41

Do you have new bedding? I've had a similar reaction to clothes from a shop I don't normally buy clothes from.
It might be the detergent they use. A few washes of the bedding might help.

I was thinking bedding too. I did have a reaction like that a couple of times after a virus. It was always worse at night in bed because I was hotter. Anthistamines a steroid cream was what I was prescribed.

@rabbitheadlights is that a picture of your stomach?? The skin looks quite red and inflamed - new detergent or material in bedding? Is it like that before you go to bed or after?

rabbitheadlights · 13/03/2021 11:24

Thanks everyone, I hadn't thought but did have new bedding, i (wrongly) assumed DP had washed it before putting it on, it's now in the washing machine. The rash came up under pyjamas though so no actual skin contact, does that matter?

@syspiria it's my lower back and side it didn't respond to first antihistamine so took another after half an hour and it started to reduce.
Both times it started in bed. First night straight away second night I woke a few hours after falling asleep

Could be spontaneous urticaria if not an allergy. Mine came out of nowhere, stayed for a few years then magically disappeared. I also developed cold urticaria a bit later on, which remains to this day. It's a PITA, but no-one can explain it and I've just learnt to live with it!
