To think travel to US won’t be possible this year?

Booked a hotel for autumn 2021 in the US during a moment of optimism towards the end of last year. It’s not going to happen is it?

Think you'll just have to live with the uncertainty. Worthwhile to make Plan B.

MarcelineMissouri · 12/03/2021 13:34

They’re opening up vaccinations to all adults by that start of May in the US. We are hoping to have all adults with first vaccinations done by early summer. As long as the numbers hold I think countries will open back up over the summer. We are hoping to go to the US in October and remain reasonably confident at this point.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 12/03/2021 13:39

If it's Florida, I'd think you might be ok. It's the return to quarantine on coming home I'd be concerned about.

FatAnneTheDealer · 12/03/2021 13:45

What @MrsArchchancellorRidcully said. US will be fine about. Who knows about UK. There is supposed to be a gov report on international travel issued on 12 April. With luck you will know more then.

We have tickets to go in August to see family we haven't seen in 2 years now, DH and I will be fully vaccinated by then. I'm planning for the possibility of 2 weeks' quarantine when we get back and will be pleasantly surprised if it turns out we don't have to! Just hoping DH won't have any issues as he doesn't have a US passport.

springdale1 · 12/03/2021 13:49

We’ve booked to go in the autumn with flexible flights assuming we’ll have had all our vaccines by then. Only staying in our families house so not to worried if it’s cancelled but we are pretty hopeful!

Pan2 · 12/03/2021 13:49

Also hoping for a trip to NYC and Washington DC in September. Can't future proof travel, but watching flight costs go up by the week.
Very frustrating.

Theoscargoesto · 12/03/2021 14:01

I really hope you’re wrong! My DD is currently in New York-was home for lockdown 1 and went back to her job in October. I’m really hoping to get out to see her as soon as I’ve been vaccinated in May. 🤞

Munkustrap · 12/03/2021 14:04

@Xiaoxiong

There is an exemption for "immediate family" of US citizens to the rules restricting entry to the country. I can't remember the full criteria but possibly worth checking for DH.

changingnames786 · 12/03/2021 14:05

I have written off the US for this year, we want to book LV for October but I'm not feeling too hopeful. Will be booking Florida for next year.

Sciurus83 · 12/03/2021 14:25

Don't understand how you want us to vote but I think you'll be able to go!

OnSilverStars · 12/03/2021 14:27

At the moment the US will only let in US citizens, residents and their children and spouse. So it doesn't really matter about you being vaccinated until the US lifts the restrictions

Who knows when that will be

Florelei · 12/03/2021 14:31

I’ve got a holiday booked for the end of October/start of November. I’m 50/50 about whether it’ll happen. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed though.

idontlikealdi · 12/03/2021 14:34

I don't think so, we are resigned to not seeing family for another year.

Xiaoxiong · 12/03/2021 14:37

Oh @Munkustrap I could kiss you for that, THANK YOU - that's a huge weight off my mind!!
