AIBU to think the M&S is irritating...

for removing items from my basket as i'm trying to check out and pay?

I started with 6 items, going throught the till, and flags come up this item is now out of stock...ended up with 2, which meant i then would have had to pay £4.99 delivery as well.....so i didn't bother pressing PAY.

why isn't the basket reserved for 15 mins or so...very irritating that my items were in there and then removed one by one....shops not actually open to go and choose the items (clothing in WALES)

aaargh - included school coat as Welsh schools are back next week.

Yes. I had this yesterday. They were apparently in stock when I put them in my basket and out of stock when I went to pay. But then they were in stock again. So I binned off the entire order and went to Next.

Ah this happened to me and I thought it was odd I'd been allowed to put unavailable stuff in my basket!
Luckily I was still ok for free delivery.

I went from a basket with 20 items to out of stock- they were still appearing in stock when I switched to another device. Gave up!

I remember this happening to me 7 or 8 years ago and I was so annoyed I've never bothered shopping online with them ever again!

Yes! I tried three days in a row to order some bits off there - I wasn't necessarily fussed about getting the stuff from there but had a gift card to use. When I went to check out, I was told my trousers and bra were no longer in stock. Okay fine well I don't need the matching top then now, and then might as well not bother with the dress for DD, I'll leave it. Next day I go back on there and the trousers and bra are still in stock - it says there are 2 of 1 and 3 of the other, what's more, they're still in my basket from the day before. I empty it just in case, start again and exactly the same thing happened, same the next day before I gave up and did my food shop in the food hall and picked up the clothes at the same time. Don't think I'll ever willingly use their website again.

This happened to me, not with M&S, but for an online retailer that does annual sample sales. There was no 'reserving' items - i shopped quickly as they were one off items, but even five minutes start to finish and all the items but the last one I added were then listed as out of stock. I complained to the company that surely they should give you a ten minute time to continue shopping, or at least warn you to check out within X minutes. Of course I heard nothing back so will not shop with them again.

Oh my god - the laptop nearly went out the window today! Filter by size and it still shows you not only stuff that is out of stock in your size, but stuff that is entirely out of stock in every size! Angry I gave up!

Yes! This happened to me just today. Had some great sale items in my basket then at check out they were suddenly all out of stock! Never had this before on other sites very annoying

I've had it happen at Christmas and the Christmas before that.

It is so frustrating. You can delete it from the basket, go back and try to buy it again and its still not there. Angry

I used to love online shopping, but sometimes you have to go out and see what it actually looks like and give it a poke.

Same here, gave up on the items Sunday night as it kept saying out of stock despite the actual page showing 10 in stock.. Went back Tuesday and there were five and I could indeed check out. Very poor.

Worse is when you do manage to order and then get an email saying the item is now out of stock so (you'll have to wait to) get a refund.
