Will all washable smart trousers be this shiny?

DS wanted some smart (aka suit) black trousers for his sixth form. I bought some for £34 from M&S which are 65% polyester, 35% viscose (these ones: www.marksandspencer.com/slim-fit-trousers/p/clp60292360?color=BLACK). That's the same mix as his old charcoal school trousers, which weren't particularly shiny, but these ones have a definite sheen to them, which looks a bit tacky to me.

I would happily pay a bit more for something less shiny, but the next pair up in price seem to be wool, which can't be washed.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a non-shiny washable pair?

Might be worth googling Dunnes Stores. It is an Irish Chain Store but their quality of trousers is quite good. Ideally look at men's trousers rather than uniform. The quality is good, washes well and not shiny. As far as I know they have stores in Northern Ireland and possibly the Uk so brexit custom charges should not apply

I don't know but I've just searched slim fit men's trousers on M&S website and they have loads of styles in the sale for £1.89 and £2.19

They never have the bargains in the right size though!

I don't suppose he would be interested in Cotton Chino style trousers, they seem to wash quite well.

Alternatively what about a wool blend? I think you need some wool in there.
