Masks in shops

I work in retail. Before Christmas I'd say at least 90% of people were compliant with wearing masks in-store. Great.

Now it's dropped. I'm seeing probably 70% wearing masks. The frustrating thing is that I desperately want to not wear a mask. It is so hard working 9 hours in a mask that impacts on your working ability and yet if I didn't wear a mask there would be so many complaints.

Aibu to wonder why people have given up wearing masks? Are people just fed up and doing what they want now?
I notice a lot more traffic too compared to last year.

It seems like the tide has turned with regards to the public following the rules.

Yanbu and I doubt they're paying you enough to potentially risk assault by standing up to customers. I do think that a lot of people are 'over it'. There's certainly a lot more people out and about, in some areas were it not daily news that we're living through a pandemic it otherwise seems like any other normal day. I expect it'll continue to be like this esp as now we have somewhat of a roadplan back to normality - though the tories being tories will of course fuck something up.

Well we are now in a different situation with much lower rates, much easier access to testing and crucially, a large % of the population who are v vulnerable are now significantly less so. Yes I suppose the 'rules' have yet to change but I would be very pleased to see people starting to behave in a way that reflects the actual danger present. I sincerely hope that by autumn almost all of this will be gone.

There's absolutely no way I'm challenging anyone on mask wearing. It's exasperating. Arguing with someone just means you are exposing yourself for longer with them breathing all over you to get their point across.
In a way it is nice to see people's faces and a bit of normality. I'm just jealous that it's not me that is mask free 😁
