AIBU to think parents shouldn't moan about this?

Local (huge) comp isn't starting lessons with all DCs in until March 15th.

Tomorrow and all week DS will come in in batches to be tested and learn how to test themselves. They will have 3 tests over the course of a week. The head decided this was the safest way to be able to open fully the week after.

It isn't the only school doing it but local forums are full of moaning parents. Surely they don't want infected children bursting their DC's bubble from the start?

Our high school is doing the same. Do I wish DD was back in on monday, of course I do but I also understand the schools are wanting the testing done first.

My DCs school is doing the same. No issue with it.

@Radio4Rocks I think the moaning come from the difference between schools. Our high school has had them all tested last week they went in in batches over 3 days and they'll be tested twice more in school this week, school 10 minutes away kids can't go back for a nearly 2 more weeks.

B33Fr33 · 07/03/2021 12:03

I'd much rather they stayed of until Easter but I'm not about to go complaining on a local forum. No one is talking about the testing week locally. The ONLY moan has been a pre-emptive moan about traffic problems from a local curmudgeonly sort who can probably find a downside on laughing gas.

I think it's a sensible thing to do, for sure.

My secondary aged son is in on Wednesday after two tests first. Primary son starts tomorrow. I do think it's crazy sending them all in at once. A phased return makes so much more sense. Just see the numbers go up again...

DS's school started the tests last Monday so is open to years 10, 11, and 13 on the 9th, and years 7, 8, and 9 on the 10th. Year 12 go back the following week.

TeenMinusTests · 07/03/2021 12:13

Our school has run 7 days of testing in the run up to opening (including this w/e).
They have been pretty well organised throughout the pandemic really compared with a lot of the schools I see mentioned here.

HelloThereMeHearties · 07/03/2021 12:13

Some people will moan whatever is done.

Angel2702 · 07/03/2021 12:19

Ours is staggered with one year group testing a day and then starting the following day. Year 7 test 15th and go back 16th.
