Kinetic Sand in washing machine!!! Help!!!

MamaSooki · 06/03/2021 15:15

I stupidly put the kids clothes into the washing machine without checking the pockets (I'm kicking myself!). The stuff is all over the machine, I've emptied the filter etc and nothing has come out there...it's just sticking all to the drum and rubber seals.

How do I get rid of the stuff completely?! I've vacuumed as much as I can from the rubber seal area.

TIA

I didn't enable voting (I know I'm being unreasonable allowing the stuff into the house 😔)

Let it dry out in there and then pick it up with itself (i.e. it sticks together)?

And then do an empty wash for any residue, maybe.

Thanks for replying rosiejaune, yep I'm leaving it dry out. I've picked up quite a bit of it, had to hoover it out of the rubber seal area. I'm going to try a cleaning maintenance cycle tomorrow. I didn't think anything could be as bad as sand...well yeah...mutant sand!

Wrap some wide duct tape around your hand and pick up as much as you can.

Freddiefox · 07/03/2021 01:24

Have you any slime that. You can run around the drum with your hand.

Thank you all, did the maintenance wash but there still seems like there's a few grains hanging about, luckily the hydrophobic stuff has broken down and it's now just ordinary sand...this probably gets the most boring update award lol.

Oh no this sounds worse than the many times I put a nappy through the wash. Once I managed to get 2 in Hmm. I just had to keep running empty cycles and vacuuming inside the drum until it all disappeared.
