Would you still go?

Hi all,

Long story short I recently had my review period at work extended for another 3 months. I was told it's not a bad thing, it's to allow me to do something I haven't yet had the opportunity to do but apparently they're very happy with my work so far 🤷🏽‍♀️

Anyway, we had booked a family holiday in October last year and have been paying this off monthly since and just finished paying it, however the holiday is the last week of my review period and I'm sort of freaking out!

We aren't the only ones going it's another group also (it's out of lockdown) so we can't cancel and it's already paid for.

I'm stressing out, would you still go? I'm entitled to the holiday as I will have accrued it but it's a week and it's right at the end of the review period with the final review 2 days after I get back! I was going to request the time after my review had ended but I hadn't been expecting it to be extended!

Sorry? Are you saying you have a holiday booked but haven't requested the time off yet?!

MamaMeAh · 03/03/2021 09:42

You need to speak to them ASAP and book your holiday in

Itsfiveoclocksomewhereright · 03/03/2021 09:43

Yes! I told me manager about the holiday just after Christmas and asked him when I would need to book and he said not for a while yet! Althought judging by your reaction I'm thinking o probably should have booked it already 😬

Never ever book a holiday without your annual leave booked in! What are you going to do if they no??

SillyOldMummy · 03/03/2021 09:46

Definitely get the holiday booked, I'd approach it "hi Manager, I'd like to confirm the holiday booking I mentioned to you back on xx.xx.2020, please can you tell me how to get the holiday booked on the staff calendar? Many thanks."

muddledmidget · 03/03/2021 09:49

It's a massive gamble booking a holiday without booking the leave from work. I know of several people who have verbally agreed leave like you have, only to find nearer the time that the manager has 'forgotten' and the time has been allocated to someone else, or that the manager has left and a new manager refuses to authorise the leave for whatever reason. Now I only ever book a holiday once I have a signed leave request in my possession. Buy going back to your actual question, there shouldn't be any problem with you having a weeks leave even at the end of your review period, if you've not managed to make them believe in you during the original period, and the next 2.5 months, I'm unsure what you're hoping to pull out the bag in your final week
