What's wrong with my ankle?

Posting for traffic...

During the first lockdown I started to experience pain in the back of my ankle/above my heel... I think it's because I was sat down too long with my foot pointed, but I don't really know. All I know is i wasn't really doing anything in lockdown to damage it other than sitting. I thought maybe it could be a tendon issue.

After walking more again after lockdown my ankle felt slightly better but was still not quite right.

Now after lockdown 3.0 my ankle is again really painful, especially after the last two days where I've been walking a lot as been decorating.

The weird thing is I've put a slipper sock on tonight and it's almost feeling immediately better, like it got some relief from the warmth or something... I don't usually wear socks or slippers.

I'm wondering if anyone knows what this could be? I don't even know what to google but I know Mumsnet can be a fountain of knowledge... so wondering if there's some connection to the warm and cold and the pain etc? Tia

Sounds like it could be your achilles, but I don't know how or why!

Can you be more specific about the pain? It’s possible some Achilles stretches will help but I’m a student sk don’t take my word as gospel

@TokyoSushi I initially thought the same, I ended up buying a splint to wear in bed to keep it at the right angle... it did help actually. Just really surprised when I put the slipper on it was instant relief after a really painful couple of days

I broke my right angle in 2017, had surgery and all fine. Over the last couple of weeks it's been quite painful and after giving it some thought I put it down to the fact that I wear proper shoes/boots for about two hours Once a week when I do a supermarket shop. The rest of the time at home I wear slippers or bare feet and when I walk the dog I wear wellies. I wore trainers inside for two to three days and the pain has gone.

Sounds like the pain I had when I had Achilles tendonitis.

Tendonitis

Wear some shoes or trainers indoors, your feet are missing the support. Also have a look for stretching exercises for feet and ankles. I think Adrienne does a short yoga routine for feet.

It sounds like you've strained your Achilles' tendon by pointing your foot
I have experience in this area because of my disability!
A crepe bandage will offer more support than anything more complicated, but best to remove it at night to allow the tendon to relax
Ibuprofen is good for pain relief until it improves
