...to use the words of the press. AIBU to think that no-one wants to see the naked abdomen with protruding belly button of a heavily pregnant z lister? Helen Flanagan is the latest Hmm

Dont see why not really

DrSbaitso · 02/03/2021 15:25

Pregnant slebs have been doing this for years and years and years. Just don't buy the magazine if you don't like it.

My pregnancy shoot pictures are featured on the photographer's website so I might be biased. But out of all the things famous people do, it's hard to care about this one.

MyFloorIsLava · 02/03/2021 15:27

Obviously some people want to see it or the magazines and newspapers wouldn't feature it.

DrSbaitso · 02/03/2021 15:29

What exactly is your objection?

DrSbaitso · 02/03/2021 15:29

Let me guess..."attention seeking"?

SunInTheSkyYouKnowHowIFeel · 02/03/2021 15:30

The word showcasing generally is irritating, in most contexts. And massively overused at the moment.

LittleRa · 02/03/2021 15:31

As an aside from baby bumps, I saw an article about what Helen Flanagan has packed in her hospital bag... I’m pregnant too so clicked on it out of interest expecting list of the usual muslins, nipple creams, maybe some lip balm and hair brush...
The list has bronzer, primer, eye shadow, mascara all at £40, £50 £60 a pop Confused
There is nothing specific mentioned for the baby or post-birth recovery other than reference made to “the obvious essentials like nursing bras and maternity underwear”

she can post what she likes on her own instagram account, if the daily mail would rather run stories on that than anything that actually matters, it's not her fault. similarly if she wants to take half the John Lewis Clinique counter to hospital with her, who gives a shite?

😂😂 God I'm just glad I dont have to care about my appearance so much after giving birth! I'll have a wash and that's as far as it goes.

Hmmm, I don't know exactly. It's a bit "look at me" when I can't imagine why the hell I would want to!

FireflyRainbow · 02/03/2021 15:38

Hate it when people I know do this on fb 🙈 makes me cringe. I did like 1 yesterday as I know she is feeling abit shit but usually I just keep scrolling.

DrSbaitso · 02/03/2021 15:40

lt's a bit "look at me" when I can't imagine why the hell I would want to!

Presumably so you can add to the discourse about it, because clearly you do want to do that...

Well yes that's true, you have to blame the papers for scraping around for a non story. And the bumps are always burgeoning as well!!

Hear hear! (Bangs my gavel)

They don't court this stuff. Lazy journalists lift it and try to push it as something they've said in an interview or as some sort of press release.

SmileyClare · 02/03/2021 15:49

It would be quite refreshing if the celebs published photos of their deflated bumps post birth; in the same spirit of body acceptance/positivity that they bang on about. Dh was fascinated after I gave birth , commenting It looks just like a punctured balloon.

It was rather ground breaking when Demi Moore did the naked bump on the cover of Vanity Fair. Now it's time for something new.

CounsellorTroi · 02/03/2021 15:52

It's a bit in your face to people who can't have kids, but also easy to just scroll on by.

He probably is. Perhaps they have a great relationship and they speak like this in jest.

Well yes she can pack all the make up she wants, it’s just that those articles/online lists are usually made to be informative and useful for pregnant women to help give tips of what to pack, whereas this was basically an advert that she’s probably got paid for with a list of different types of make up, and not really anything to do with useful post birth tips/products or babycare. The article should’ve maybe been “Helen Flanagan recommends her favourite beauty products” rather than “Helen Flanagan recommends what to pack in your hospital bag for birth”.

@SmileyClare Celebs showing their post partum journey is actually really common now, especially on instagram.

Perhaps.

SmileyClare · 02/03/2021 16:04

Aha the midwife told him off about the "deflated balloon" comment. It was literally minutes after our son was delivered. I found it quite funny but I was on pethidene at the time.

I must admit the hospital bag list is quite entertaining. I'm reading it and thinking You wait love, you are so not going to be applying bronzer in labour.

Ponoka7 · 02/03/2021 16:05

"It's a bit "look at me" when I can't imagine why the hell I would want to!"

All published photo shoits are 'look at me', it's how out of work celebrities stay relevant. So it brings us back to should only the most attractive, fuckable (by men's standards) be allowed to post 'look at me' pictures? Or should anyone be valid enough, without being sexual, to post their pictures?
