To want to get a different pushchair

Sorry, not a very exciting thread but it's a debate I'm having with myself at the minute.

I've currently got the Venicci Travel System. I love it but it's so frustrating when just wanting to nip to the shops as I have to get the chassis out, then the actual pushchair seat and attach it on to the chassis. Is this just the normal or is there something out there that just folds up and down easily? Money is tight at the minute, hence why I don't know if I'm being unreasonable and lazy?

The boot of my car is also quite small so having the chassis and pram seat in there takes up a lot of space so also thinking something a little smaller would be ideal.

You can get umbrella folds but most of them are crap, I had one literally fall to pieces while my son was in it and they generally have very small wheels and are low to the floor so not very practical.

You could try something like a Baby Jogger that folds in half.

Look at the joie litetrax 4. One hand fold, lovely to push (beat an iCandy IMO). I love mine. Cheaper than the baby jogger and cheaper (and prettier)

minniemoocher · 01/03/2021 18:05

Once baby is 6 months old buy a cheap umbrella buggy, they are £20 approx

Pinkflipflop85 · 01/03/2021 18:06

Armadillo flip. 2 way facing and folds down in one.

tealandteal · 01/03/2021 18:08

The Joie Litetrax fit in the boot of my mini, lovely and would use again if I had another.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 01/03/2021 18:09

Almost everyone ends up with a Maclaren once their baby is sitting up. They are light, they fold one handed, and they last forever.

You can buy a nice one for £20 secondhand.

We have a silver cross reflex but I prefer my mums Joie Litetrax.
DO NOT get a cheap umbrella stroller. You will hate it! Spend a bit of money & get a decent one (or 2nd hand).
I’ve had a second hand MacLaren which I loved & a Cosatto which I did not, also had a really cheap Hauck & it was terrible.

ParkheadParadise · 01/03/2021 18:12

I had the Venicci Travel System for dd2.
I did walk a lot with dd so didn't have to fold the pram much.
But it was a pain in the arse to get in and out of the car luckily we had a large boot.
I got a silver cross buggy when she was about 12 months.

Defo not unreasonable for wanting to change - I had 50 odd pushchairs over three years with my DS haha!

Honestly I never found the hype of an all in one fold like the Armadillo Flip - I had one and liked it, but it took just as long to fold as my others where the seat came of (like Britax Smile, Bugaboo Cam, Silver Cross Wayfarer etc) You have to flip and flap the seat, then the handle so it took just as long, and you're lifting the weight of a chassis plus seat!

The best all in one which parent and world faces was the Bugaboo Bee - pretty quick to fold and light.

If you're happy with little one world facing, then I agree with the Joie Literax or Britax B Agile M (both do same sort of thing as the baby jogger but more practical and look nicer IMO)

If you're happy to sell the Venicci, what you get for that should cover the cost of a new cheaper buggy. If you fancied the Bugaboo Bee, you can get them second hand in great quality, and they last and last!

Oooo, you’ve all got me all excited! Thank you for all your suggestions. The winner for me is definitely the Joie Litetrax 4! It’s in my budget and it looks like an all round great pushchair. Just what I’m after.

@ParkheadParadise I’m glad it’s not just me that thinks it’s an absolute nightmare when out and about and I do not have a big car at all! Once I have the chassis and pushchair seat in the boot, it leaves very little room for anything else.

@flappityflippers1 I would love to sell the Venicci since I don’t use it at all anymore but DD’s grandparent got it for me and I just couldn’t sell it as I’d feel really cheeky. Plus, if I have another baby in the future, at least I’ve got everything. I love the look of the Bugaboo Bee but I can’t justify the price, especially considering DD is now walking and is very soon probably going to refuse to get in the bloody thing!

Get a new one. I have an oyster 3. Proper pushchair not a flimsy stoller and folds all in one, very easily and isn't too heavy either.
Folding seat was top of my wishlist when shopping after watching my friend fill her 4x4 boot with an icandy!

CarterBeatsTheDevil · 01/03/2021 19:52

We had an iCandy Peach travel system. Looks beautiful but it was a nightmare taking it apart on public transport. Got an umbrella folding Joie as soon as the child was safe to sit in one and I don't think we've had the iCandy out since - she's pretty much out of pushchairs now so I have just realised I may need to offload both!

Dragonfly202 · 01/03/2021 20:11

I had similar issues to you OP with my bulky silvercross. Great while DS was under 1 but now a pain in the butt.
I’ve just got a joie mytrax as I’m tall and struggled with the bar on my friend’s Litetrax as it is fixed (loved everything else about it though). The mytrax is very similar but has a height adjustable handlebar and slightly bigger tyres, and you can remove the seat to put a carry cot on if you were to have a second. Also it is suitable up to 22kg rather than 15kg so if your baby is like mine (tall and on the heavier side) then may be something to consider. It got mine reduced I from smyths and just went for the basic without the car seat and carry cot which is available in a bundle from other places. Really pleased with it. If your not fussed then the litetrax sounds ideal.

holliem91 · 01/03/2021 20:29

I've just ordered the Joie Litetrax 4. I can't wait for it to come. Ah, my life is going to be so much easier.

Managed to find it on the baby and child store for £139.99, not bad! My budget was £200 so I'm really pleased. Thank you everyone.

@Dragonfly202 I'm quite small so it should be ok. Hopefully anyway as I hate sending things back. Will bear the mytrax in mind though in case this one isn't right. Thank you!

My husband is 6’ and he got in with it fine. You won’t regret it.

holliem91 · 12/03/2021 18:10

Hi everyone! I just wanted to update you all.

My Joie litetrax 4 arrived today (I picked rubbish delivery so it took ages) and I love it!

I can't believe this is what I've been missing all this time. It's so light weight and super easy to fold up/down. I'm yet to try it in my car but judging by the size of it when folded down, it will fit perfectly.

Thank you for all your recommendations. I am really happy with it.

Life just got a whole lot easier! Grin
