Xmas wedding - are we mad?

100 person wedding booked for 18th December 2021 (booked before covid).

Am I living in cuckoo land in hoping it could go ahead as planned?

I reckon it could go either way - it's too early to know. I'd love to think we'd be pretty much back-to-normal by the end of the year but I've been pretty naive so far, I thought we'd be grand by the end of last year!

Crossing fingers for you Thanks

@RedPandaFluff thanks 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

I'm similar, if everything goes to plan it should be fine...but who knows.

peak2021 · 28/02/2021 15:37

You might be OK. Hopefully you are.

Changeisneeded · 28/02/2021 15:57

I’d have a contingency plan or two and prepare yourself for it not happening and then if it goes ahead as planned brilliant but if not you have prepared for it.

I think I’m really aware that it’s much easier for covid to spread when the weather is rubbish as we are all inside so whilst we may get some normalcy back in the summer it may not last. However, by then we will have all been vaccinated and so hopefully that gives it a boost!

bridetobeornottobe · 28/02/2021 16:12

@Changeisneeded do you mean not happening at all? Or not with 100?

I have a Summer ( early August ) wedding that I'm planning to go ahead with 100 so I'm hoping your December one will be fine!

Changeisneeded · 28/02/2021 16:21

I know they have said that they hope to not have future lockdowns but that they can’t guarantee it so I guess there is a possibility it won’t happen but more likely restrictions will be imposed.

However I think there is a fair chance it will be absolutely fine with no restrictions. As others have said it’s a guessing game and I guess for me I’d want to have worst case scenarios planned for whilst hoping for best case

Echobelly · 28/02/2021 16:21

Have a plan A B and C - it may go ahead with 100 people, 50, 30 or none. It may be OK, but we could have to lock things down at least slightly over winter, so gathering could be in the very least restricted.

We have a big family do we've already postponed a year and that's midsummer - we're not going to get 100 people under any circumstances, but 20-30 might be a possibility.

GintyMcGinty · 28/02/2021 16:23

Just now - impossible to know.

But if it goes ahead it will be an awesome party.

Good luck.

bridetobeornottobe · 28/02/2021 16:35

Thanks everyone 🤞🏻🤞🏻

@roseylemonade I think you'll be ok - schools off for summer and warm weather will work in your favour!

I'm dreading the 'irreversible' releasing of restrictions being not so 'irreversible'

I got married last year on the 16th Dec. All went well, but we only had 2 guests and we invited them 3 days before the wedding.

Snowymcsnowsony · 28/02/2021 17:21

No ho ho ho problems at all!! Congratulations!

Crazycatlady007 · 28/02/2021 17:34

A Christmas themed wedding - how absolutely lovely.

Meredithwho · 01/03/2021 08:19

I hope so as I’m due to get married the week before!! 11th December for us, proceeding as if it’s going to happen!

MondeoFan · 01/03/2021 08:24

I think it'll be ok. Think it will go ahead.

Love the idea of an Xmas wedding, if I got married again I'd def go for this.

tisonlymeagain · 01/03/2021 10:44

I think all we can do is proceed as if it's going to go ahead as normal, I mean that have to at some point.

Monkeypeas · 01/03/2021 11:23

Ive got a December wedding booked too. 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

I would say let’s hope so but I’m thinking that there may be some restrictions such as only allowed up to 50% or 75% of a venues capacity Rather than an actual limit on numbers To ensure some social distancing.

The plan is to reopen nightclubs from the summer but I wonder if they’ll be a need to wear face masks when dancing?

If your venue is much bigger than your numbers then hopefully you’ll be ok.

I’m going to go ahead whatever happens as we’ve already postponed once
