GEORDIE SHORE - Bad example to teens or a genius bit of Tele?

So the general consensus in my house is that IABU, as a 30 odd year old woman to enjoy watching geordie shore.

I've never watched it past series 12 as, let's be honest, once Charlotte left it was shit.

But I love the early series.

Vicky Pattinsons one liners
Hollys transformation
Garry and Charlotte saga

Bit of classic Tele.

AIBU?

I used to love Geordie Shore, Gary and Charlotte, Vicky was brilliant!

I also loved The Valleys, now that made Geordie Shore look classy!

OuiOuiKitty · 27/02/2021 21:04

I loved geordie shore but stopped watching it when Charlotte left as well. I don't think everything on TV has be a good example or have some kind of moral. Sometimes being entertaining enough.

peak2021 · 27/02/2021 21:10

Geordies have to put up with Mike Ashley owning their football club and probably ending in relegation this season, politicians especially Tories ignoring them. They don't deserve such an unrepresentative scripted programme.

Though they can smile at Sunderland FCs misfortunes.

Strawberry - I've never heard of the valleys! Sounds like I should look into itGrin

Shoot me but I loved it back in the day. I stopped watching once Charlotte left. It was at a time where I'd stopped going out but the uni memories were still quite fresh.

I watched the one recently with them all now they're having babies and it was a bit sad as they clearly seemed to be more colleagues than friends. I mean I KNOW that's what it'd be like but they did seem to have a lot of fun.

Do you ever post on a thread without somehow referring to football?
HeyDW96 · 27/02/2021 21:33

I used to enjoy watching it but recently stuck an episode on and wondered why I had spent so many hours watching people speak shite, get drunk and piss the bed. They are exactly what I do not want my children to be or see to be honest, they all seem to have some issues now with constant need for surgery and diet pills etc. At the time it was easy entertainment though.

Crimeismymiddlename · 27/02/2021 21:45

I loved it but stoped watching when it was clear they were ‘acting’ and the new people were very dull. I liked that they behaved appallingly all the time and had tonnes of fun. You would never see that on TV now.

Jersey shore was where it was at Grin

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 28/02/2021 14:34

I like jersey shore, but I don't think it's as good. I can't take anyone seriously who calls themselves "the situation" 😅

I was literally watching an old episode this morning. Agree about the newer seasons. I think the cast is pretty dire, so don't watch it now.

DP and I watch it mostly just for a laugh.

LOLbebe · 28/02/2021 15:20

Agree - really enjoyed it until Charlotte left. Not sure it should be used as any example to teenagers though!?

The Valleys was even worse. Also watched Jersey Shore. Floribama shore is the newest one - sadly in mid30s I am also enjoying watching that- some of it is very grim - the 'messiest' castmate actually full on snogged an OAP on a drunken night out (although that reminds me didnt Jay shag an OAP behind a bin in an earlier episode of Geordie Shore??).

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 28/02/2021 15:22

He shagged someone behind a building, not an OAP though

noname55 · 28/02/2021 15:25

Haven't watched it in years - is it still going?
I couldn't really relate to them but I like watching people the same age as me so that was the appeal for me! Same reason I watch other MTV shows like Teen Mom (who are all now in their late 20s).

KiteAir · 01/03/2021 01:14

I think it's good that talentless people have an outlet to make money.
We can't all be rocket scientist types.
Modern day jesters.

They're all screwed up though. You don't pump your face full of botox and filler and Lipo your body if you're ok.

FrankButchersDickieBow · 01/03/2021 02:32

🤣🤣🤣

I loved the valleys. Loved geordie shore back in the day, but thinking about it now makes me feel a bit sad. All the surgery they have had.

How Holly chased after James when he had a leg injury.

How Charlotte chased after Gary.

I'm sure their older and wiser selves wishes they could give their younger selves some advice.

But I feel like they are the epitome of the social media age, with their lips, boobs, noses etc.

Makes me feel sad.

suspiria777 · 01/03/2021 12:24

yabu for spelling it tele and not telly...

sunflowersandbuttercups · 01/03/2021 12:26

I used to love Geordie Shore Grin

I stopped watching not long after Marnie came on and Holly left, though.

burnoutbabe · 27/07/2023 22:53

I have just really enjoyed the geordie shore reunion -Charlotte is having a baby and holly getting married but they all meet up with most of the cast and drink and not much has changed!

(Gary and Vicky not appeared so far -doubt they will)
