True Blood TV show am I missing the genius?

Hi all!

TB is on Now TV. Never had Sky so did not see the original run. I rather like Alexander Skarsgard, so I thought I would give it a sample. Well, I didn't make it past the 1st episode, it seemed to be very thinly disguised pornography and the story was laughable simple. Am I missing something?

I haven’t watched it (have read some of the books though) but it can take more than one episode to get into a series. If it’s not for you though, I’m sure there are plenty of series out there that you will enjoy.

The books are far far better than the TV series, but Alexander Skarsgard is worth looking at Grin

I would advise to stay with it for a few more shows. It’s very well written and the humour is fantastic.

The first season is pretty much all sex but it lessens as the seasons progress. I also think (like most TV series) it goes on a bit too long

I stuck with it for Alexander Skarsgard to begin with but ended up loving the whole thing.

I don’t agree with this. I’m not a fan of gothic vampire stuff but absolutely bloody loved True Blood. I cant pinpoint what hooked me in, I was just hooked. Love the theme tune too.

We watched it when it was on originally & we loved it. We were going to watch them all again a few weeks ago & we watched the first episode & we were in hysterics 🤣 I think if you don't take it too seriously you'll enjoy it.

I completely disliked the first episode because it was so utterly ridiculous, and then realised that that's what made it brilliant.
The whole thing was completely daft and utterly over the top with a good dose of tongue in cheek. It can be great fun as long as you don't take it too seriously.
I loved the little click the vampire's teeth made when they came out Grin
And of course:
Soooooooookie!!!
Biiiiilll!!
And repeat ad infinitum

Eric 🤤🤤🤤and Pam are the best in it so I'd wait for them to appear lol .
I found it slightly irritating at the beginning but then I did with the vampire diaries too at the start x

DH and I watched it together when it first came out. It was'our' programme. DC were not allowed to watch it. We loved it. It was pretty pornographic and bloody as I recall. I liked Bill (and Eric).

Sookie & Bill are a real life couple. They met on the set of True Blood & are still together. I didn't know that when I was watching it.
